Abiding in Christ to Bear Good Fruit

Abiding in Christ to Bear Good Fruit

Are you bearing fruit for God's glory—or simply looking fruitful on the outside? In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef examines the striking imagery of Israel as a flourishing vine in the Book of Hosea and challenges believers to look beyond outward appearances to examine the true condition of their hearts.

Throughout Scripture, God describes Israel as a vineyard He lovingly planted and nurtured. Yet despite its lush appearance, Israel produced fruit that revealed spiritual compromise, self-centeredness, and unfaithfulness. Hosea 10:1 warns of a vine that appeared prosperous but failed to honor the God who sustained it.

Dr. Youssef explains why this warning is especially relevant to the Church today. Some congregations may appear spiritually vibrant while compromising Biblical Truth or denying the deity and saving work of Jesus Christ. Even genuine believers can fall into patterns of spiritual complacency, division, and lukewarm devotion. God is not impressed by outward appearances; He desires lives that bear genuine spiritual fruit.

But God's warning is also an invitation to repentance. Hebrews 12:6 reminds us that the Lord disciplines those He loves. His correction calls us away from spiritual compromise and back into wholehearted fellowship with Him.

The answer to spiritual fruitlessness is found in Jesus Christ, the True Vine. In John 15:4, Jesus declares, "Remain in me. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." Only through abiding in Christ can believers produce lasting fruit marked by love, joy, peace, and faithfulness.

What kind of fruit is your life producing? Are your choices rooted in Christ or driven by self-interest? Discover how remaining in Jesus transforms the heart and enables you to bear fruit that brings glory to God.

Let us pray.

Father God, reveal to me the bad fruit in my life so I can be transformed for Your good purposes. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
