John 12:48 Jesus says
“He that rejecteth Me and receiveth not My words, hath One that judgeth him; the Word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the Last Day.”
I am going to try to expound, amplify and explain John 12:47 to verse 48 which to a casual observer it seems that verse 48 contradicts verse 47, but that would be far from the truth.
In John 12 verse 47 Jesus says “And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.”
But right below that in verse 48 He says “he that rejects me, and receives not my words, has One that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”
In John 12;47-48 Jesus declares that those who reject Him and His message will be judged on the last day by the very words He spoke, because His words do not originate from Himself, but are precise commands given to Him by God the Father.
The Standard of Judgment
Personal Rejection: Refusing Jesus means refusing truth itself.
The Word as Judge: Jesus is not acting as an immediate judge during His earthly rescue mission, but the truth He taught remains the permanent standard that evaluates human choices.
The Last Day: Accountability is certain and points to a future final reckoning.
Divine Authority
No Independent Message: Jesus speaks in complete unity with God the Father.
The Father's Command: Every word Jesus delivered carries the weight, authority, and life-giving intent of Heaven.
