Sermon Snippet
A LAMP TO MY FEET
I’m going to try to explain, expand and amplify psalm 119:105
Psalm 119:105 states, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." This verse means that God's teachings give us daily direction, keep us from moral mistakes, and show us the right way to live.
The core message focuses on divine guidance.
The Lamp and the Path
Step-by-step help: An ancient oil lamp only shines bright enough for one or two steps ahead, not the whole journey.
Safe walking: God's word keeps people from tripping over hidden traps or doing wrong things in dark times.
Big picture: The wider light on the path shows the long-term direction God wants a person to take.
Expanding the Meaning
Trust over sight: People do not need to know their entire future to move forward safely. In fact far too often knowing it would be too overwhelming.
Daily practice: Reading and obeying the Bible turns abstract truth into concrete choices for today.
The word of the Lord is meant to be used by us in traveling from Earth to heaven. Perhaps the reason we have run into so many dark and gloomy roads along the way is because we have not recognized it.
They will be done on earth as it is in heaven!
