00:00:07 --> 00:00:09 so that we may trust you
00:00:09 --> 00:00:13 and live lives that are joy-filled and strengthened by you.
00:00:14 --> 00:00:17 We ask for the ability to hear you speak today.
00:00:17 --> 00:00:21 We ask for the humility to recognise failures within ourself.
00:00:22 --> 00:00:25 And we ask for the security to be able to confess them confidently,
00:00:26 --> 00:00:28 knowing that your love is sufficient.
00:00:29 --> 00:00:29 Amen.
00:00:30 --> 00:00:36 Have you wondered why John's Gospel finishes here?
00:00:37 --> 00:00:39 It feels like it would make more sense
00:00:39 --> 00:00:41 if it finished at the end of the chapter before.
00:00:43 --> 00:00:44 Jesus has died.
00:00:45 --> 00:00:46 Jesus is risen.
00:00:46 --> 00:00:48 Jesus has told his disciples that they've got a job.
00:00:49 --> 00:00:49 He's commissioned them.
00:00:50 --> 00:00:51 So why this extra story?
00:00:52 --> 00:00:54 Why not skip to the bit where Jesus gets on a cloud
00:00:54 --> 00:00:57 and goes up to heaven and that be the end of it?
00:00:57 --> 00:00:59 Why Peter?
00:00:59 --> 00:01:00 Why here?
00:01:02 --> 00:01:05 Well, we know that Peter is a disciple, but he's not just any disciple.
00:01:07 --> 00:01:11 Peter is one of Jesus' three closest confidants.
00:01:11 --> 00:01:15 He's the one who uttered the famous declaration,
00:01:15 --> 00:01:16 you are the Christ.
00:01:18 --> 00:01:21 He's an act first, think later kind of guy,
00:01:21 --> 00:01:23 and he gets things done for Jesus.
00:01:23 --> 00:01:29 On the night of Jesus' arrest, when Jesus is explaining that all will scatter once he is arrested,
00:01:30 --> 00:01:32 Peter boldly and confidently declares,
00:01:32 --> 00:01:35 all else may fall, but I will follow you.
00:01:35 --> 00:01:38 Even if I have to die, I will follow you.
00:01:38 --> 00:01:42 Peter is so confident in his conviction,
00:01:42 --> 00:01:43 in his fortitude,
00:01:44 --> 00:01:45 in his self-discipline,
00:01:45 --> 00:01:46 to resist temptation,
00:01:47 --> 00:01:48 to endure hardship,
00:01:48 --> 00:01:48 even death,
00:01:49 --> 00:01:52 that he stands boldly declaring
00:01:52 --> 00:01:55 that his commitment and his love for Jesus
00:01:55 --> 00:01:57 is greater than any other disciple.
00:01:57 --> 00:02:00 He is so confident
00:02:00 --> 00:02:04 that he fails to heed the warning from Jesus
00:02:04 --> 00:02:06 that this very night
00:02:06 --> 00:02:09 he will deny Jesus three times.
00:02:11 --> 00:02:13 But for all his confidence,
00:02:14 --> 00:02:14 mere hours later,
00:02:15 --> 00:02:15 not once,
00:02:15 --> 00:02:16 not twice,
00:02:16 --> 00:02:17 but three times,
00:02:18 --> 00:02:20 Peter denies Jesus.
00:02:21 --> 00:02:23 And as he says it for that third time,
00:02:23 --> 00:02:27 he locks eyes with the one that he calls Saviour.
00:02:28 --> 00:02:31 And he is overcome with guilt and sorrow.
00:02:33 --> 00:02:36 Confidence that turns out to be false confidence
00:02:36 --> 00:02:39 makes our failures all the more painful.
00:02:42 --> 00:02:43 As Christians,
00:02:43 --> 00:02:46 we tend to rock back and forth in our Christian life
00:02:46 --> 00:02:50 between a sense of bravado and invincibility
00:02:50 --> 00:02:52 and at other times,
00:02:53 --> 00:02:55 a sense of crippling guilt or failure.
00:02:57 --> 00:02:58 At points in our lives
00:02:58 --> 00:03:00 where we feel like we're travelling well,
00:03:01 --> 00:03:02 resisting sin,
00:03:02 --> 00:03:02 reading our Bibles,
00:03:03 --> 00:03:04 there is this confidence.
00:03:06 --> 00:03:08 We have dealt with the issues.
00:03:08 --> 00:03:09 It's past now.
00:03:09 --> 00:03:10 We can move on to what's next.
00:03:13 --> 00:03:15 But the problem, of course,
00:03:15 --> 00:03:16 is when we stumble back into those sins
00:03:16 --> 00:03:17 that we've dealt with.
00:03:17 --> 00:03:20 Those sins that we've told God
00:03:20 --> 00:03:22 are now done and finished.
00:03:23 --> 00:03:24 How did this happen?
00:03:25 --> 00:03:26 We ask ourselves.
00:03:27 --> 00:03:30 I promised God I was done with that.
00:03:32 --> 00:03:34 The guilt can be truly suffocating.
00:03:36 --> 00:03:37 Can become a barrier
00:03:37 --> 00:03:39 in our relationship with God.
00:03:39 --> 00:03:40 Something that we try and carry ourselves
00:03:40 --> 00:03:43 because we feel like we let God down.
00:03:45 --> 00:03:47 We failed to keep our word.
00:03:47 --> 00:03:51 Remember that when we get to this episode in John,
00:03:51 --> 00:03:54 Jesus has already appeared to his disciples twice.
00:03:56 --> 00:03:57 Peter got to see him both times
00:03:57 --> 00:03:59 when Jesus met with the disciples
00:03:59 --> 00:04:00 behind closed doors.
00:04:01 --> 00:04:03 And it must have been really encouraging
00:04:03 --> 00:04:06 for Peter to hear the words from Jesus,
00:04:06 --> 00:04:08 peace be with you.
00:04:08 --> 00:04:13 But how could he forget what Peter did?
00:04:16 --> 00:04:19 Was Peter even still worthy to be called
00:04:19 --> 00:04:20 one of Jesus' followers,
00:04:21 --> 00:04:24 let alone a disciple or a leader in his church?
00:04:24 --> 00:04:29 I mean, he might have been able to push that night
00:04:29 --> 00:04:31 and his failure and his mistake
00:04:31 --> 00:04:32 to the back of his mind.
00:04:33 --> 00:04:35 But now, on this morning,
00:04:36 --> 00:04:39 on that night,
00:04:39 --> 00:04:41 he stood warming himself around a fire.
00:04:42 --> 00:04:43 On this morning,
00:04:44 --> 00:04:45 he sits at a fire with Jesus.
00:04:45 --> 00:04:47 On that night,
00:04:48 --> 00:04:49 he denied Jesus three times.
00:04:50 --> 00:04:51 On this morning,
00:04:51 --> 00:04:52 he will answer three questions.
00:04:53 --> 00:04:54 It's quite possible
00:04:54 --> 00:04:56 that the stretch of beach
00:04:56 --> 00:04:58 that they're eating breakfast on
00:04:58 --> 00:04:59 is the same stretch
00:04:59 --> 00:05:01 where Peter first met Jesus,
00:05:01 --> 00:05:04 where Peter first heard the words from Jesus,
00:05:04 --> 00:05:05 follow me.
00:05:05 --> 00:05:05 Peter.
00:05:07 --> 00:05:08 But since then,
00:05:09 --> 00:05:10 in his hour of testing,
00:05:10 --> 00:05:11 Peter has failed.
00:05:13 --> 00:05:15 Peter must have been feeling
00:05:15 --> 00:05:18 a deep sense of inadequacy
00:05:18 --> 00:05:19 as he sat there eating.
00:05:21 --> 00:05:22 There's not a lot of conversation
00:05:22 --> 00:05:23 in the passage.
00:05:24 --> 00:05:27 The disciples are almost at a loss for words.
00:05:28 --> 00:05:30 It says they know he was the Lord,
00:05:30 --> 00:05:32 but they didn't know what to say to him.
00:05:32 --> 00:05:37 Maybe Peter felt a bit like he did
00:05:37 --> 00:05:38 when he first met Jesus,
00:05:39 --> 00:05:42 when he fell to his knees and said,
00:05:42 --> 00:05:43 get away from me, Lord.
00:05:43 --> 00:05:44 I'm a sinner.
00:05:47 --> 00:05:49 Maybe that's even how you sometimes feel.
00:05:52 --> 00:05:52 Inadequate.
00:05:54 --> 00:05:56 Inadequate to resist temptation.
00:05:57 --> 00:05:59 Inadequate to point others to Jesus.
00:05:59 --> 00:06:03 Inadequate to call yourself a Christian.
00:06:05 --> 00:06:06 You know that you've failed.
00:06:07 --> 00:06:09 You know that you'll fail again.
00:06:11 --> 00:06:12 And maybe every day
00:06:12 --> 00:06:15 you have this question ringing in your mind,
00:06:15 --> 00:06:17 this uncertainty hanging over your head.
00:06:18 --> 00:06:20 Will Jesus still love me today?
00:06:20 --> 00:06:24 Even after all of these mistakes.
00:06:25 --> 00:06:27 Maybe the overarching emotion for you
00:06:27 --> 00:06:28 in the Christian life
00:06:28 --> 00:06:29 is guilt and fear
00:06:29 --> 00:06:30 rather than joy and freedom.
00:06:32 --> 00:06:34 The feeling that there is no way
00:06:34 --> 00:06:35 you can do what's required today.
00:06:36 --> 00:06:38 That even before you begin,
00:06:38 --> 00:06:39 you know you're going to fall short.
00:06:39 --> 00:06:46 But that's kind of the point, isn't it?
00:06:51 --> 00:06:53 I mean, whether you feel self-confident
00:06:53 --> 00:06:54 as a Christian,
00:06:54 --> 00:06:56 whether you're in that bravado
00:06:56 --> 00:06:58 and invincibility stage right now,
00:06:58 --> 00:06:59 or whether you sit there
00:06:59 --> 00:07:00 and just want to hide in your room
00:07:00 --> 00:07:02 and hope that nothing bad happens,
00:07:03 --> 00:07:05 wherever you are,
00:07:05 --> 00:07:05 you are inadequate.
00:07:05 --> 00:07:09 What God asks you to do is beyond you.
00:07:10 --> 00:07:12 Whether we're talking about obedience
00:07:12 --> 00:07:14 or a ministry like what Peter will embark on,
00:07:15 --> 00:07:16 you are inadequate.
00:07:16 --> 00:07:18 Peter is inadequate.
00:07:19 --> 00:07:21 And yet, Jesus chose Peter.
00:07:24 --> 00:07:26 He called him out of the fishing boat
00:07:26 --> 00:07:27 to be a disciple,
00:07:27 --> 00:07:28 to be a disciple maker.
00:07:30 --> 00:07:32 Peter's initial interaction with God
00:07:32 --> 00:07:34 made it clear that he was inadequate.
00:07:34 --> 00:07:37 Peter knew it as he fell on his knees,
00:07:37 --> 00:07:38 as he stood in the presence
00:07:38 --> 00:07:40 of his perfect saviour, Jesus.
00:07:40 --> 00:07:43 He knew he didn't belong somehow.
00:07:44 --> 00:07:46 There's no surprises here for Jesus.
00:07:48 --> 00:07:50 And the same is true of you and me.
00:07:53 --> 00:07:55 God knew what he was signing up for
00:07:55 --> 00:07:57 when he called you to follow him.
00:07:58 --> 00:08:00 Jesus died for you
00:08:00 --> 00:08:01 while you were still a sinner,
00:08:01 --> 00:08:03 not after you had sorted yourself out.
00:08:04 --> 00:08:07 And what Jesus is doing in this story
00:08:07 --> 00:08:09 is not heaping guilt on Peter.
00:08:10 --> 00:08:11 He's not harping on about his failures.
00:08:13 --> 00:08:16 He's showing him the absolute sufficiency
00:08:16 --> 00:08:19 of what he has done in his death and resurrection.
00:08:21 --> 00:08:23 See, somewhere along this journey,
00:08:25 --> 00:08:27 Peter has somehow forgotten how he started.
00:08:27 --> 00:08:31 He's begun to think that it's his responsibility
00:08:31 --> 00:08:33 to be good enough for God,
00:08:34 --> 00:08:36 to be capable enough for this ministry.
00:08:37 --> 00:08:40 He started thinking it's about his character
00:08:40 --> 00:08:42 and his commitment and his ability and his goodness.
00:08:45 --> 00:08:47 And you and I do the same thing.
00:08:47 --> 00:08:50 We hear the gospel.
00:08:51 --> 00:08:53 I'm saved by grace,
00:08:53 --> 00:08:55 by the death and resurrection of Jesus.
00:08:56 --> 00:08:57 It has nothing to do with me.
00:08:57 --> 00:09:00 But then a month later,
00:09:00 --> 00:09:02 or two years later,
00:09:02 --> 00:09:04 or ten years later,
00:09:04 --> 00:09:06 we start to take responsibility for things
00:09:06 --> 00:09:08 that are not ours to carry.
00:09:09 --> 00:09:11 We start to feel this burden
00:09:11 --> 00:09:12 to have to be good enough
00:09:12 --> 00:09:13 to get God's love,
00:09:14 --> 00:09:14 to please him,
00:09:15 --> 00:09:17 to maybe deal with some of the sins
00:09:17 --> 00:09:18 we've done again
00:09:18 --> 00:09:20 that we said we wouldn't do anymore.
00:09:21 --> 00:09:24 Grace becomes our first step on our path
00:09:24 --> 00:09:25 instead of the foundation
00:09:25 --> 00:09:28 that empowers and holds up
00:09:28 --> 00:09:29 everything that we do
00:09:29 --> 00:09:30 as followers of Jesus.
00:09:32 --> 00:09:34 But the forgiveness and love
00:09:34 --> 00:09:35 offered in Jesus
00:09:35 --> 00:09:37 is unconditional.
00:09:38 --> 00:09:39 It's irreversible.
00:09:40 --> 00:09:42 There is no failure that you can do
00:09:42 --> 00:09:43 that will undo
00:09:43 --> 00:09:45 what Jesus achieves
00:09:45 --> 00:09:46 in his death and resurrection.
00:09:48 --> 00:09:50 When Jesus calls you into his family,
00:09:51 --> 00:09:52 he stamps you permanently
00:09:52 --> 00:09:53 loved,
00:09:54 --> 00:09:54 adopted,
00:09:55 --> 00:09:56 forgiven,
00:09:57 --> 00:09:57 paid for,
00:09:58 --> 00:09:59 precious,
00:10:00 --> 00:10:00 redeemed,
00:10:02 --> 00:10:02 permanently,
00:10:03 --> 00:10:04 irreversibly.
00:10:06 --> 00:10:08 It cannot be undone.
00:10:09 --> 00:10:10 And then by grace,
00:10:11 --> 00:10:12 he empowers you to do
00:10:12 --> 00:10:14 whatever it is that he needs you to do.
00:10:17 --> 00:10:18 Jesus isn't yelling at Peter.
00:10:18 --> 00:10:19 Peter.
00:10:20 --> 00:10:21 He's showing Peter something
00:10:21 --> 00:10:23 that Peter needs to be reminded of
00:10:23 --> 00:10:25 and maybe we need to be reminded of as well.
00:10:27 --> 00:10:27 Love
00:10:27 --> 00:10:30 is the only issue.
00:10:31 --> 00:10:32 Heart
00:10:32 --> 00:10:33 is the question
00:10:33 --> 00:10:35 that Jesus wants to ask Peter
00:10:35 --> 00:10:36 three times.
00:10:37 --> 00:10:37 See,
00:10:38 --> 00:10:39 you will fail
00:10:39 --> 00:10:41 if you try and be good enough for God.
00:10:41 --> 00:10:42 I can tell you that
00:10:42 --> 00:10:43 with absolute confidence.
00:10:43 --> 00:10:44 You will fail
00:10:44 --> 00:10:46 if you try and do things for God
00:10:46 --> 00:10:47 in your own strength.
00:10:47 --> 00:10:51 because apart from God,
00:10:51 --> 00:10:51 you can do nothing.
00:10:53 --> 00:10:54 Not even be a Christian,
00:10:55 --> 00:10:57 let alone be a part of his mission
00:10:57 --> 00:10:58 to transform the world
00:10:58 --> 00:10:59 with the hope of the gospel.
00:11:00 --> 00:11:00 Love
00:11:00 --> 00:11:01 is the question
00:11:01 --> 00:11:02 that Jesus takes to Peter.
00:11:03 --> 00:11:03 Not,
00:11:03 --> 00:11:04 how's your preaching going?
00:11:05 --> 00:11:05 Not,
00:11:05 --> 00:11:06 have you got a plan
00:11:06 --> 00:11:07 for church planting?
00:11:09 --> 00:11:10 Do you love me?
00:11:11 --> 00:11:12 Peter's heart
00:11:12 --> 00:11:13 is the issue here.
00:11:13 --> 00:11:15 even though Peter
00:11:15 --> 00:11:16 has failed
00:11:16 --> 00:11:17 and will fail
00:11:17 --> 00:11:18 to express that love
00:11:18 --> 00:11:19 in perfect obedience,
00:11:20 --> 00:11:22 it's the only question
00:11:22 --> 00:11:23 that Jesus asks.
00:11:25 --> 00:11:26 Peter is about
00:11:26 --> 00:11:26 to become
00:11:26 --> 00:11:28 a significant leader
00:11:28 --> 00:11:29 in the early church.
00:11:29 --> 00:11:30 He'll ultimately
00:11:30 --> 00:11:31 be crucified
00:11:31 --> 00:11:33 for his ministry.
00:11:34 --> 00:11:35 He will preach
00:11:35 --> 00:11:36 the famous
00:11:36 --> 00:11:37 Pentecost sermon
00:11:37 --> 00:11:37 which will see
00:11:37 --> 00:11:39 thousands of converts.
00:11:39 --> 00:11:42 so Jesus
00:11:42 --> 00:11:43 is using
00:11:43 --> 00:11:44 Peter's failure
00:11:44 --> 00:11:45 to remind him
00:11:45 --> 00:11:46 that if he tries
00:11:46 --> 00:11:47 to do any of this
00:11:47 --> 00:11:47 in his own strength,
00:11:47 --> 00:11:48 he will fail.
00:11:48 --> 00:11:51 But,
00:11:52 --> 00:11:53 with the power
00:11:53 --> 00:11:54 of God,
00:11:54 --> 00:11:55 all things
00:11:55 --> 00:11:56 are possible.
00:11:58 --> 00:11:59 With the power
00:11:59 --> 00:12:00 of God,
00:12:00 --> 00:12:01 a failure like Peter
00:12:01 --> 00:12:02 can be used
00:12:02 --> 00:12:03 to unleash
00:12:03 --> 00:12:05 God's ministry
00:12:05 --> 00:12:05 on the world.
00:12:06 --> 00:12:07 To unleash
00:12:07 --> 00:12:08 the life-changing
00:12:08 --> 00:12:10 hope of the gospel.
00:12:12 --> 00:12:13 Peter gets offended
00:12:13 --> 00:12:14 by the third question.
00:12:14 --> 00:12:18 He rightly
00:12:18 --> 00:12:18 protests,
00:12:18 --> 00:12:19 Jesus you know.
00:12:20 --> 00:12:22 And Jesus does know.
00:12:22 --> 00:12:23 He knows Peter's heart.
00:12:23 --> 00:12:24 He knows everything.
00:12:24 --> 00:12:25 But that's the point.
00:12:25 --> 00:12:26 These questions
00:12:26 --> 00:12:27 aren't there for Jesus
00:12:27 --> 00:12:28 just to double check.
00:12:28 --> 00:12:29 These questions
00:12:29 --> 00:12:30 are there for Peter.
00:12:32 --> 00:12:34 Jesus is graciously
00:12:34 --> 00:12:35 wiping clean
00:12:35 --> 00:12:36 the guilt for Peter
00:12:36 --> 00:12:37 from his three denials.
00:12:37 --> 00:12:38 He doesn't have to.
00:12:39 --> 00:12:40 The cross is sufficient.
00:12:41 --> 00:12:42 But this encounter
00:12:42 --> 00:12:44 is Jesus showing Peter
00:12:44 --> 00:12:45 that your failures
00:12:45 --> 00:12:46 are not the main issue.
00:12:46 --> 00:12:47 Here your heart
00:12:47 --> 00:12:47 is the main issue.
00:12:50 --> 00:12:51 You will fail.
00:12:51 --> 00:12:52 You will be inadequate.
00:12:53 --> 00:12:53 But if your heart
00:12:53 --> 00:12:54 loves me,
00:12:55 --> 00:12:59 no amount of action
00:12:59 --> 00:13:00 from Peter
00:13:00 --> 00:13:01 counts for anything
00:13:01 --> 00:13:03 if he doesn't love Jesus.
00:13:04 --> 00:13:05 And even though
00:13:05 --> 00:13:06 it's true and right
00:13:06 --> 00:13:07 to say that love
00:13:07 --> 00:13:07 will often
00:13:07 --> 00:13:08 and maybe even usually
00:13:08 --> 00:13:09 express itself
00:13:09 --> 00:13:10 in obedience,
00:13:10 --> 00:13:14 love is not made up
00:13:14 --> 00:13:14 of action.
00:13:16 --> 00:13:18 Jesus knows Peter's heart
00:13:18 --> 00:13:19 and even in his failures,
00:13:20 --> 00:13:23 Peter is held secure
00:13:23 --> 00:13:23 in the love
00:13:23 --> 00:13:25 that God has for him.
00:13:27 --> 00:13:29 This episode is essential
00:13:29 --> 00:13:30 because it makes it clear
00:13:30 --> 00:13:32 that Peter's acceptance
00:13:32 --> 00:13:35 and God's love for Peter
00:13:35 --> 00:13:35 will never be conditional
00:13:35 --> 00:13:38 on Peter's ministry
00:13:38 --> 00:13:40 or his spiritual success
00:13:40 --> 00:13:42 or his ethical success.
00:13:43 --> 00:13:45 John writes later
00:13:45 --> 00:13:46 in his letter 1 John,
00:13:47 --> 00:13:47 we love
00:13:47 --> 00:13:49 because he first loved us.
00:13:50 --> 00:13:51 The love that undercuts
00:13:52 --> 00:13:53 our love for God
00:13:53 --> 00:13:55 is his immovable,
00:13:56 --> 00:13:57 unchangeable,
00:13:57 --> 00:13:58 irreversible love
00:13:58 --> 00:14:01 shown to us
00:14:01 --> 00:14:01 in the death
00:14:01 --> 00:14:02 and resurrection
00:14:02 --> 00:14:03 of Jesus.
00:14:03 --> 00:14:04 The essential ingredient
00:14:04 --> 00:14:06 in our love for God
00:14:06 --> 00:14:08 is his love for us.
00:14:09 --> 00:14:10 Peter's inadequate love
00:14:10 --> 00:14:12 becomes adequate
00:14:12 --> 00:14:15 through the gracious
00:14:15 --> 00:14:16 transforming power
00:14:16 --> 00:14:17 of God's love for him.
00:14:19 --> 00:14:20 Hear that again.
00:14:22 --> 00:14:23 Listen and reflect
00:14:23 --> 00:14:25 and soak in this truth.
00:14:27 --> 00:14:28 God requires a love
00:14:28 --> 00:14:29 from you
00:14:29 --> 00:14:32 that you are incapable
00:14:32 --> 00:14:33 of giving
00:14:33 --> 00:14:36 and so by his
00:14:36 --> 00:14:38 unshakable
00:14:38 --> 00:14:39 and unchangeable love
00:14:39 --> 00:14:41 he empowers you
00:14:41 --> 00:14:42 to love him.
00:14:45 --> 00:14:46 Even your failures
00:14:46 --> 00:14:48 to love God
00:14:48 --> 00:14:49 are covered
00:14:49 --> 00:14:52 by the sufficient love
00:14:52 --> 00:14:53 from God.
00:14:56 --> 00:14:58 God's love triumphs
00:14:58 --> 00:14:59 over our failures.
00:14:59 --> 00:15:01 It restores us.
00:15:01 --> 00:15:02 It renews us.
00:15:02 --> 00:15:03 It redeems us.
00:15:03 --> 00:15:04 It empowers us.
00:15:04 --> 00:15:06 It reinstates us
00:15:06 --> 00:15:07 when we fail.
00:15:08 --> 00:15:09 And it gives us
00:15:09 --> 00:15:10 the strength required
00:15:10 --> 00:15:12 to do what we cannot do
00:15:12 --> 00:15:12 on our own

00:16:15 --> 00:16:16 Saviour
00:16:16 --> 00:16:17 three times.
00:16:17 --> 00:16:19 this is
00:16:19 --> 00:16:20 the failure
00:16:20 --> 00:16:21 par excellence
00:16:21 --> 00:16:24 and yet
00:16:24 --> 00:16:26 the love
00:16:26 --> 00:16:26 of God
00:16:26 --> 00:16:27 washes him
00:16:27 --> 00:16:27 clean
00:16:27 --> 00:16:29 embraces him
00:16:29 --> 00:16:30 as a child
00:16:30 --> 00:16:31 and sends him
00:16:31 --> 00:16:32 out empowered
00:16:32 --> 00:16:33 to change
00:16:33 --> 00:16:34 the world.

00:16:37 --> 00:16:38 it was the grace
