Many voices today promise that faith will bring money, influence, success, and comfort right now. But in today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reminds believers that Jesus never promised a life of ease—and the Gospel does not guarantee worldly riches.
Psalm 16 points us to a far greater inheritance. David likely wrote this psalm not from a palace, but while running for his life from King Saul. He had no earthly comfort, no secure home, and no access to the land of his youth. Yet through eyes of faith, David could say, “The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.”
David understood that true inheritance is not found in money, land, luxury, or temporary success. Those things can be lost—and all earthly promises end at death. But the inheritance God gives His people is spiritual, supernatural, eternal, and kept in heaven.
Most of all, David knew that no inheritance would be worth having apart from the presence of God. Like Moses, who refused to move forward without the Lord’s presence, David declared, “Apart from you I have no good thing” and “LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup.” The greatest gift believers will ever receive is God Himself—and in His presence, there is fullness of joy and eternal pleasure.
