In Matthew 25, Jesus tells the story of ten virgins waiting for the bridegroom. All were invited. All expected him to come. All carried lamps. All even fell asleep. But when the bridegroom finally arrived, only five were ready.
In today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef explains why this parable should cause every professing Christian to examine the reality of his or her faith. The difference between the wise and foolish virgins was not what they claimed to believe—it was whether they were actually prepared when the bridegroom came.
Jesus warned that as wickedness increases, many will grow cold and fall away. Dr. Youssef points to widespread confusion about salvation today, including the belief that sincerity, religious faith in general, or good works can make a person right with God. But Scripture could not be clearer: Jesus Christ alone is the way to the Father, and salvation cannot be earned.
The Gospel declares that Christ accomplished what we could never accomplish for ourselves. His death and resurrection are our only hope. If you are uncertain whether you are ready for Christ’s return, this episode offers a serious but gracious invitation: do not rely on religious appearances or empty words. Come fully to Jesus Christ and entrust your whole life to Him.
