What gives believers the courage to obey God when His plan seems confusing or impossible? The heroes of Hebrews 11 understood that their confidence did not rest in circumstances—it rested in the character of Almighty God.
In today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reminds us that courageous faith begins by recognizing the greatness of God’s power and the certainty of His promises. The God who created the heavens and calls every star by name cannot fail, lie, or make a mistake. When He speaks, His people can trust Him enough to obey.
Consider Joshua marching around the fortified walls of Jericho or Gideon facing an army described as being “thick as locusts.” God’s instructions may not have made sense from a human perspective, but both men moved forward because they trusted the One who gave the command.
That same faith is necessary when our circumstances puzzle us, suffering weighs us down, or the road ahead appears impossible. God does not promise that obedience will always be easy, but He does promise to remain faithful—equipping, guiding, and strengthening His people through every battle.
Whatever you are facing today, remember the foundation of courageous faith: God is powerful, God is faithful, God is sovereign, and Christ has already secured the ultimate victory. Keep praying. Keep obeying. Keep trusting the God who works all things for the good of those who love Him.
Prayer: God, thank You for the examples of courageous faith found in Your Word. Help me to always trust You and Your plan for victory. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
“For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory” (Deuteronomy 20:4).
