[00:00:00] You are listening to My Devotional, the Daily Devotional from Dr. Michael Youssef and Leading
[00:00:06] The Way.
[00:00:08] Will You Stumble?
[00:00:09] By Dr. Michael Youssef
[00:00:11] In light of God's sovereignty, some may ask, if God will have mercy on whomever He will,
[00:00:19] why pray?
[00:00:20] Why witness?
[00:00:21] Why get attacked by my co-workers or classmates for trying to tell them about Christ?
[00:00:27] But in Romans 9 verses 19-33, Paul tells us that by asking such questions we are expecting God to
[00:00:35] answer us when it is we the created who must answer to Him.
[00:00:42] Don't misunderstand, God does allow us as His children to ask why and it's good for us to
[00:00:48] sincerely wrestle with Him about these matters, but we must not permit our pride to puff us up
[00:00:54] so that we demand answers from God and then reject Him when He does not respond in the way
[00:00:59] we think He should.
[00:01:00] We must remember that we are but dust, just as Job did when he faced with the majesty
[00:01:06] of God said, Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for
[00:01:12] me to know.
[00:01:14] Though it is God who sovereignly elects His children since the beginning of time
[00:01:18] in His perfect wisdom, He has chosen to use us as His messengers of salvation.
[00:01:24] Even though this confounds our understanding, this is core to the Christian faith and to
[00:01:29] the heart of the mission of the Church.
[00:01:32] May God grant us humble faith to receive this truth so that we might not stumble over it
[00:01:37] but wear ourselves out in testifying to God's amazing love displayed in Christ.
[00:01:43] Let's pray together.
[00:01:44] God, You are Lord.
[00:01:47] You are sovereign overall, perfect in wisdom and all Your judgments.
[00:01:52] We trust You and surrender to You.
[00:01:56] Help us to follow Your ways.
[00:01:58] We pray this in the name of Jesus.
[00:02:01] Amen.
