[00:00:00] You are listening to My Devotional, the Daily Devotional from Dr. Michael Youssef and Leading

[00:00:06] The Way.

[00:00:08] What Heaven is Like by Dr. Michael Youssef

[00:00:13] In Heaven we will see Jesus face-to-face.

[00:00:17] There will be no barriers, no limitations to seeing the reality of our Lord.

[00:00:22] Of course without Jesus, Heaven wouldn't be Heaven.

[00:00:25] Praise God, Jesus is in Heaven and He's preparing a place for us there.

[00:00:30] One day He will come back and take us to our eternal home.

[00:00:35] When we close our eyes one final time on this earth, we'll also experience uninterrupted

[00:00:40] fellowship with our loved ones who have gone before us in faith.

[00:00:44] You might have heard that your departed loved ones are asleep until Jesus returns.

[00:00:49] Maybe it's been called a state of unconsciousness or a soul sleep.

[00:00:54] But that is not in Scripture.

[00:00:56] The Bible does speak about those who have fallen asleep, but only as a metaphor to illustrate

[00:01:01] an important truth because Jesus died for us, our deaths are merely temporary.

[00:01:08] Because of His sacrifice we can say with Paul, death has been swallowed up in victory.

[00:01:13] Where O death is your victory?

[00:01:15] Where O death is your sting?

[00:01:18] You can read more about that in 1 Corinthians 15.54-55.

[00:01:23] So when you get to Heaven, all your loved ones who died in Christ will be there and you will

[00:01:29] be reunited never to be separated again.

[00:01:33] In Heaven there will also be no more brokenness.

[00:01:37] Here we experience broken careers, marriages, reputations, dreams, friendships, and on

[00:01:42] and on.

[00:01:43] And when we suffer these losses it's easy for us to tumble into despair and hopelessness.

[00:01:49] But the resurrected Jesus will completely redeem and renew all things.

[00:01:54] In Heaven we will enjoy full restoration in the presence of Jesus.

[00:02:00] In fact, in Heaven there will be no more sorrow, no more grief, only joy.

[00:02:06] Revelation 21.4 says, God will wipe every tear from our eyes and there will be no

[00:02:12] more mourning or crying or pain.

[00:02:15] We all go through discouragement and despair in this life, but these trials can never survive

[00:02:21] the journey to Heaven.

[00:02:22] Finally, there will be no more death.

[00:02:25] Death can be a frightening prospect, but on Easter morning Christ canceled its power.

[00:02:30] Now for the Christian, death is nothing more than a change of address.

[00:02:34] It's moving from the basement to the penthouse.

[00:02:38] Once we cross over to Heaven, death no longer has power over us.

[00:02:42] Indeed Christ, our life and resurrection, declared in Revelation 118, I am the living one.

[00:02:48] I was dead and now look, I am alive forever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and

[00:02:55] Hades.

[00:02:56] Amen.

[00:02:57] Belongs here.

[00:02:58] Let's pray together.

[00:02:59] Jesus, thank you for defeating death and preparing an eternal home, a perfect home

[00:03:06] for us with You in Heaven.

[00:03:08] This truth gives us strength for today as we trust in Your promises.

[00:03:13] We pray this in the name of Jesus.

[00:03:15] Amen.
