[00:00:00] You are listening to My Devotional, the Daily Devotional from Dr. Michael Youssef and Leading
[00:00:06] The Way.
[00:00:08] We Cannot Tamper with Truth by Dr. Michael Youssef.
[00:00:14] God's great indictment against Israel was that the Israelites willingly became dialogue
[00:00:19] partners and collaborators with the religions of the Canaanites and the Phoenicians, the
[00:00:25] Egyptians, and the Assyrians, the Persians, and Babylonians.
[00:00:29] Though God had told Israel, you shall have no other gods before me, the people repeatedly
[00:00:34] turned to idols and false religions, and that's why God sent them into exile in Babylon.
[00:00:39] Israel was punished and exiled for doing exactly what misguided church leaders advocate
[00:00:45] today.
[00:00:46] I'm not saying we should view Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, or atheists as enemies.
[00:00:50] We must love them with the love of Jesus Christ, but the only way to authentically love
[00:00:55] them is by sharing the gospel with them.
[00:00:58] Collaborating with false teachers might win friendships with the world, but it would
[00:01:02] betray the one who declared, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
[00:01:06] No one comes to the Father except through me.
[00:01:10] You place yourself in spiritual jeopardy once you set your sights on friendship with
[00:01:14] the world.
[00:01:15] If the praise of unbelievers is what you want, it's not hard to get.
[00:01:18] Simply compromise the Truth.
[00:01:21] Unbelievers will tell you, we love your uncertainty, ambiguity, doubt, and tolerance of other
[00:01:27] religions.
[00:01:28] Just do away with your claim that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and let's
[00:01:32] agree that all paths lead to God.
[00:01:35] But Jesus never said, Tolerance for other religions will set you free.
[00:01:39] He said, If you hold to my teaching, you will really be my disciples, and then you
[00:01:44] will know the truth and the truth will set you free.
[00:01:46] Truth comes from the teachings of Jesus, and only the truth of Jesus will set us free.
[00:01:52] Some would have us believe that the Christian faith contains some truths, other religions
[00:01:57] contain other truths, and if we put these truths together, and all seeing Kumbh
[00:02:01] Baya will have a more complete truth.
[00:02:04] That's a 21st century idolatry.
[00:02:07] The Israelites before the Babylonian exile practiced a similar approach to truth.
[00:02:11] They believed God had delivered some truth through Moses, but they also wanted to
[00:02:15] sample the truth of the Canaanites and the other false religions around them.
[00:02:19] But God told Israel that there are not many paths to God.
[00:02:23] There's only one way.
[00:02:25] And God's message to us hasn't changed.
[00:02:27] It remains the same.
[00:02:29] Do not tamper with the truth of God.
[00:02:32] The fate of those who adulterate the gospel is the same today as it was in ancient Israel.
[00:02:38] Exile.
[00:02:40] Let's pray together.
[00:02:41] Father, help us to remember that the true way to love others is to lead them to Jesus,
[00:02:46] the only way to salvation and freedom.
[00:02:49] Forgive us for compromising your truth.
[00:02:51] Help us to trust in you for deliverance in your timing.
[00:02:56] We pray this in the name of Jesus.
[00:02:58] Amen.
[00:02:59] If today's devotional encouraged you, we'd love to hear about it.
