How do we develop compassion for others? We first must experience God's love and then be challenged to pass on that love. Children first experience God's love by experiencing the love of their parents. The more their parents express love to them, the quicker they are to show compassion. In today’s devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef exhorts parents to cultivate compassion in the family.

[00:00:06] The Way.
[00:00:08] Unconditional Love by Dr. Michael Youssef
[00:00:13] Another role of the Godly parent is to cultivate compassion for others.
[00:00:18] Job trained his children to be generous, hospitable, responsible, kind and considerate, and to
[00:00:24] be leaders in building up unity and harmony among others in the community.
[00:00:28] This does not mean Job taught his children to compromise for agreement, but rather to hold
[00:00:34] strong principles and demonstrate genuine love.
[00:00:38] How do we develop compassion for others?
[00:00:40] First we must experience God's love and then be challenged to pass on that love.
[00:00:46] Children first experience God's love by experiencing the love of their parents.
[00:00:51] The more their parents express love to them, the quicker they are to show compassion.
[00:00:56] Assure your children repeatedly of God's love, even when they disobey.
[00:01:01] Be affectionate with them, hugging and kissing them and putting your hand on their shoulders
[00:01:05] a sign of encouragement.
[00:01:07] Also don't link your love to any behavior trait in your child.
[00:01:12] Let your children know you love them just as God loves them, unconditionally.
[00:01:17] God loves us solely because we are His beloved, uniquely created children.
[00:01:23] Learn to love your children in the same way.
[00:01:26] When you demonstrate love to your children, they gain a proper perspective of God.
[00:01:32] They learn to view the Lord as a God of love, not wrath.
[00:01:36] Let's pray together.
[00:01:38] Lord teach us how to communicate your love better to our families.
[00:01:42] We know that when we learn to love you better, we can pass this love on to others.
[00:01:48] Thank you for your faithfulness in our lives.
[00:01:51] We pray this.
[00:01:52] In the name of Jesus, amen.
