Unashamed of God's Wrath: June 14, 2024

Today more than 60 percent of professing Christians deny the wrath of God altogether. They say there is no wrath of God; only love. In today’s devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef explains how God’s wrath toward sin is actually His love in action.

[00:00:19] Sin. He knows he cannot share the healing possible in Jesus Christ without first revealing humanity's terminal illness We're all desperately sin-sick in under God's wrath. Today, more than 60% of professing Christians deny the wrath of God altogether. They say there is no wrath of God only love.

[00:00:42] They don't understand that without the wrath of God, the love of God cannot exist. His wrath towards sin is his love for us in action and His love rescues us from the wrath we deserve. God's wrath is not capricious, uncontrollable fury.

[00:01:01] It's an utter hatred of all that is evil. God is just and is just a demands payment for our sins. Yet out of his love, he did not spare even his own son.

[00:01:13] He sent Jesus to die in our place, ransoming anyone who believes in him from the just wages of sin which is death.

[00:01:23] As Christians, we must live unashamed of God's utter holiness and justice for if our lost loved ones are to come to Christ they must first confess their need for his forgiveness. We must be honest about sin and point them to Christ the only hope for the hopeless.

[00:01:42] Let's pray together. Lord, we know that your wrath is just and that sin and evil cannot go unpunished. Thank you for leading us to repentance and providing the perfect eternal, attoning sacrifice for our sins.

[00:01:56] May your spirit work in the lives of our family and friends, our neighbors, our quaintances, so they might see their sin and find life in the only one who saves. Jesus Christ, we pray this in the name of Jesus Amen.
