[00:00:08] The Truth About Life in Christ by Dr. Michael Youssef
[00:00:14] In this passage, the Apostle Paul outlines four truths about our life in Christ to encourage
[00:00:21] us as we seek to live for Him.
[00:00:24] 1. We are bound to Christ, not the law.
[00:00:29] Christ frees us from the bondage of performance of the law so that we now have joy instead
[00:00:35] of despair, life instead of death, love instead of duty, and willing service instead of begrudging
[00:00:42] effort.
[00:00:43] 2. Maturity builds up.
[00:00:47] Immature Christians live depending on themselves, but sooner or later they fail because the
[00:00:54] law cannot help anyone overcome their sin.
[00:00:57] Mature Christians do not blame the law, but daily accept their desperate need for a Savior.
[00:01:04] 3. Do it yourself, religion will fail.
[00:01:09] Temptation will always find us on the side of heaven, and fighting back on our own
[00:01:13] can only bring discouragement.
[00:01:15] We must instead rely on Christ, allowing the Holy Spirit to have His way in us.
[00:01:22] 4. Surrender will always keep you afloat.
[00:01:27] Growing closer to Jesus is like getting closer to a bright light.
[00:01:31] The closer you get to His holiness, the more clearly you can see the dirt in your life.
[00:01:37] Thanks be to God that we no longer rely on ourselves for holiness and impossible feat,
[00:01:43] but instead look to Jesus, our righteousness, for true transformation in our lives.
[00:01:51] Let's pray together.
[00:01:52] Thank you, God, for saving us from our sin and transforming us day by day into the likeness
[00:01:59] of Christ.
