[00:00:08] The Grace of Election by Dr. Michael Youssef
[00:00:13] As Christians we must remember God shows us not because we are lovable but in spite of
[00:00:19] our unlovable condition.
[00:00:21] His love is unconditional.
[00:00:23] His choice was a function of His sovereign will.
[00:00:27] Why He chooses one and not another is a mystery known only to God, and because His sovereign
[00:00:32] election of you and me is an act of His sovereign grace, we have no reason to be arrogant.
[00:00:39] His election of us drives us to our knees in humility and brokenness before Him.
[00:00:45] We can only cry out to God and say, Lord I don't know why You love me, why You
[00:00:51] called me, why You chose me, why You predestined me.
[00:00:56] But in utter amazement and humility I say thank You, I believe in You, and I want to
[00:01:02] spend all of eternity praising You.
[00:01:07] There is no power in the universe more humbling to our egos than the sovereign election
[00:01:13] of God.
[00:01:15] Jesus said to His disciples, You did not choose me but I chose you and appointed you
[00:01:20] so that you might go and bear fruit, fruit that will last.
[00:01:25] If it were up to us, we would not choose to follow Him.
[00:01:29] As fallen human beings, we are willful and rebellious by nature, yet Paul says that God
[00:01:34] chose us so that we might make Him known.
[00:01:38] He has chosen you, Paul wrote, because our gospel came to you not simply with words
[00:01:43] but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction.
[00:01:48] You became imitators of us and of the Lord.
[00:01:52] The Lord's message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia, your faith in God
[00:01:58] has become known everywhere.
[00:02:01] God chose us so that His message might ring out from us and the good news of Jesus Christ
[00:02:08] might become known everywhere.
[00:02:11] Are you ready to answer His call and bear fruit that will last?
[00:02:17] Let's pray together.
[00:02:18] Lord, we praise You for Your kindness, Your mercy, Your grace, powerfully displayed in Your
[00:02:23] sovereign election.
[00:02:25] Thank You for calling us out of darkness into Your light.
[00:02:28] Grant us the strength to boldly proclaim Your truth, trusting that You will bring fruit
[00:02:33] to bear in our lives and in the lives of those around us.
[00:02:38] We pray this in the name of Jesus.
