[00:00:08] The Church Needs Your Blessing by Dr. Michael Youssef
[00:00:14] Every time a person is born again and repents of their sins and receives Jesus Christ as
[00:00:19] their Lord and Savior, the Lord gives them a spiritual birthday gift.
[00:00:24] A spiritual gift from the Lord is not just any old gift.
[00:00:28] It's not some bargain basement last-minute generic present.
[00:00:32] God gives His children gifts that are perfectly designed, perfectly suited and perfectly fitted
[00:00:38] for each recipient.
[00:00:40] Each one is tailor made.
[00:00:43] That's why it's such a tragedy when a gift goes unused.
[00:00:47] You see, Jesus is the conquering King, victorious over Satan at the cross.
[00:00:52] He came and set the captives free, you and me and all who come to believe in
[00:00:56] Him and drawing us into His victory parade, He's distributed to us the spoils, a spiritual
[00:01:03] gift for which He paid a colossal price.
[00:01:08] Because we have each been given at least one unique spiritual gift, no one Christian can
[00:01:13] do the work of another.
[00:01:15] That's how God willed it.
[00:01:16] This is how God decided the Church should function.
[00:01:19] It's so important that the Apostle Paul addressed it at length in three different
[00:01:24] places, Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12-14, and Ephesians 4.
[00:01:32] When the Church, the body of Christ, does not have everyone exercising their spiritual gift,
[00:01:38] it's an unhealthy body.
[00:01:40] It is a sick and decaying body.
[00:01:43] So when we pretend our gifts don't matter or believe we don't have to minister with
[00:01:48] our gifts, we neglect to participate in the good and needed work that God has prepared
[00:01:54] for us to do.
[00:01:56] Too many in the Church have become spectators rather than a fully functioning body.
[00:02:02] Too often people come to Church and think, what can this Church do for me?
[00:02:08] That is the wrong question.
[00:02:09] That's a self-centered, worldly question.
[00:02:13] We all should be asking, how can I use my spiritual gifts to serve the Church and
[00:02:17] build others up in the faith?
[00:02:19] Friends, that's where joy is found.
[00:02:22] This is how we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the
[00:02:29] head.
[00:02:30] That is Jesus Christ.
[00:02:32] Let's pray together.
[00:02:33] Jesus, thank you for enduring the cross, the just punishment for our sin.
[00:02:39] We thank you for saving us so that we can enjoy a glorious purpose and good works
[00:02:43] prepared for us to do.
[00:02:45] Empower us to recognize the gifts you have secured for us and to use them for your will
[00:02:51] on this earth.
[00:02:52] We pray this in the name of Jesus.
