[00:00:08] The Boldness of Elijah by Dr. Michael Youssef
[00:00:13] Seemingly out of nowhere, Elijah appears in Scripture.
[00:00:17] He had no family history, high office, or credentials to make him God's choice to confront the terrifying
[00:00:24] and immoral leadership of his day.
[00:00:26] There is no evidence that Elijah was super spiritual.
[00:00:31] Like us, he was fearful and perplexed at times.
[00:00:34] Yet with great directness, he tells the wicked King Ahab,
[00:00:38] As the Lord, the God of Israel lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in
[00:00:46] the next few years except at my word.
[00:00:50] Elijah's act was outrageously bold because King Ahab was under the influence of his pagan
[00:00:56] wife Jezebel.
[00:00:58] She had led King Ahab to kill hundreds of God's people because they would not bow down to Baal.
[00:01:04] Delivering God's message to Ahab must have seemed like a suicide mission.
[00:01:10] At God's direction, Elijah delivered the message and then hid in the Kareth ravine.
[00:01:15] There, he learned that when God pulls you away into hiding, he will supply the power, provision,
[00:01:22] and protection you need to be prepared to be of even greater service to him.
[00:01:29] Let's pray together.
[00:01:30] God, help us to have the kind of boldness that Elijah had to be obedient to whatever you command.
[00:01:37] Thank you for the reminder that like Elijah, when you put us in a place of season, of hiding,
[00:01:46] you're preparing us to be of greater service to you.
[00:01:49] We pray this in the name of Jesus.
