[00:00:00] You are listening to My Devotional, the daily devotional from Dr. Michael Youssef and Leading
[00:00:06] The Way.
[00:00:08] The Art of Godly Friendships by Dr. Michael Youssef
[00:00:13] In the last 50 years we've seen sweeping technological advancements, yet technology has done little
[00:00:19] to confront the problems of loneliness and emptiness.
[00:00:22] Perhaps like no other time in human existence, loneliness plagues teenagers and adults alike.
[00:00:28] The inability to make and to keep friends has become a common disease.
[00:00:33] Even among Christians, godly friendships have become a lost art.
[00:00:37] One of the first recorded sentences God ever uttered about the man whom He created was the
[00:00:42] following, It is not good for the man to be alone.
[00:00:47] It is imperative that we know how to develop godly friendships.
[00:00:51] To do so, we need to look no further than our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
[00:00:55] Proverbs 18.24 tells us that there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
[00:01:02] Jesus is such a friend.
[00:01:05] When sin penetrated the hearts of Adam and Eve, they not only became alienated from God,
[00:01:10] but they also became alienated from each other.
[00:01:13] When Jesus died on the cross, He made it possible for all who believe in Him to be in fellowship
[00:01:19] with God and also in godly fellowship with one another.
[00:01:22] Godly friendships are the evidence of our belonging to the Lord Jesus Christ.
[00:01:27] But godly friendships are not found.
[00:01:29] They are made.
[00:01:31] They are built up stone by stone.
[00:01:33] They are established on biblical principles.
[00:01:36] Let's pray together.
[00:01:38] God, we recognize our need for godly friends, and we pray that you would put some godly friends
[00:01:43] in our lives, that we would point one another to you, together seeking your face.
[00:01:50] Thank you for your friendship.
[00:01:52] We pray this in the name of Jesus.
[00:01:54] Amen.
