God wants us to have a realistic and balanced view of Satan and his influence. The Bible teaches that Satan and his demons are real and that this present world is a battlefield where unseen, immensely powerful forces wage war against our souls. In today’s devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef reminds us that Satan’s power is limited.

[00:00:00] You are listening to MY Devotional, the Daily Devotional from Dr. Michael Youssef and Leading The Way.
[00:00:07] Satan is real by Dr. Michael Youssef. God wants us to have a realistic and balanced view of Satan
[00:00:18] and his influence. The Bible clearly teaches that Satan and his demons are real
[00:00:23] and that this present world is a battlefield where unseen and immensely powerful forces wage war against our souls.
[00:00:31] But Satan is not omnipotent, only God is. Satan is not omnipresent, only God is.
[00:00:40] Satan is not omniscient, only God is.
[00:00:46] Job 1 teaches that Satan is a person, he comes before God and singles out Job and he argues his case before God.
[00:00:54] Luke 4 also describes Satan as a person. There, Satan finds Jesus in the wilderness, weak from hunger,
[00:01:01] and he proceeds to debate Jesus, hoping to tempt Jesus and to sin.
[00:01:05] The Bible also tells us that Satan is constantly scheming against believers.
[00:01:11] Put on the full armor of God, Paul warns in Ephesians 6-11 so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
[00:01:20] And elsewhere, Paul adds that we should live upright lives, continually practicing Christ-like forgiveness,
[00:01:27] in order that Satan might not outwit us for we are not unaware of his schemes.
[00:01:33] In Matthew 4-6, we see that Satan has a thorough knowledge of scriptures and he twists the scriptures to achieve his own evil ends.
[00:01:42] If you fall in under the spell of the Spirit of this age and you chose to believe that Satan is nothing but a metaphor or a symbol,
[00:01:51] then I must warn you that you are violating both the Spirit and the letter of God's Word.
[00:01:58] The scriptures do not portray Satan as anything other than a real and literal spiritual adversary and destroyer.
[00:02:06] He is invisible yet powerful, he has intelligence, volition and a will of his own and his will is to use human beings to thwart the will of God if that were possible.
[00:02:18] He is the source of all that is evil in the world.
[00:02:23] If you are ever Satan, not achieved through will power, victory is achieved through truth power, the power of the Word of God.
[00:02:31] It is the power and the truth of scripture that exposes Satan and his deceitful schemes.
[00:02:37] The only solution to the lies of Satan is to expose them to the bright sunlight of God's truth.
[00:02:45] Let's pray together.
[00:02:46] Father, thank you for your Word that gives us truth power to defeat the lies of Satan.
[00:02:52] May we trust it and know it well, remembering you are greater and that the victory is sure and secure in Christ.
[00:03:00] We pray this in the name of Jesus, amen.
