[00:00:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Receiving Divine Peace by Dr. Michael Youssef.
[00:00:14] [SPEAKER_00]: In 1970, I worked for a telephone company in Sydney, Australia.
[00:00:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I'd only been in the country for a few months and I had arrived with only $100 of borrowed money in my pocket.
[00:00:26] [SPEAKER_00]: My boss at the phone company knew my impoverished state.
[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_00]: One day he came to me and said, Michael, may I ask you a personal question?
[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Tell me, why do you seem so peaceful and contented?
[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_00]: You have almost nothing. You're just scraping by.
[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Yet you never complain, you never seem worried, you seem to be a peace.
[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_00]: I am a peace, I said, I know that God is in charge of all the circumstances of my life.
[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_00]: When I received Jesus as Lord of my life, I surrendered everything to him.
[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_00]: My plans, my goals, my finances, my circumstances, even my worries and anxieties.
[00:01:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I surrendered it all to him and exchanged for that. He's given me peace.
[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_00]: My boss thought for a moment and he said something that saddens me to this day.
[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't do that, Michael. I could never surrender my will to anyone.
[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I had a number of talks with this man while I worked at the phone company.
[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I found out that he knew the Christian gospel and occasionally went to church,
[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_00]: but he had never surrendered his life to the Lord. He was unwilling to put God in charge of his life.
[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_00]: He saw with his own eyes that surrendering to Christ had brought peace to my life, a peace that passes understanding, a peace that he himself could not understand.
[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Though he wanted that peace, he refused to pay the price of surrendering himself to God.
[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Only Jesus can give you that peace and it's free you can't earn it or buy it, but to obtain this free gift you have to surrender.
[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_00]: You have to give up and let Jesus take over control of your life.
[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_00]: You have to surrender your weapons.
[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's pray together.
[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Heavenly Father, we know the only way to divine peace is to surrender to you, the God of peace.
[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Help us to never resist your call to give everything to you.
[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for the free gift of your peace.
[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_00]: We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
