[00:00:12] In Mark, Jesus makes note of the actions of a simple widow. Mark 12, 41-44 says, Jesus sat
[00:00:22] down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their
[00:00:26] money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts, but a poor widow came
[00:00:32] and put in two very small copper coins worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him,
[00:00:39] Jesus said, Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the
[00:00:45] others. They all gave out of their wealth, but she, out of her poverty, put in everything,
[00:00:51] all she had to live on. While many people came to the temple hoping to be seen and to make
[00:00:57] an offering that would bring awe and approval, this humble widow gave all she had to Jesus,
[00:01:03] seeking only to worship him and to be found faithful in his eyes. She was not caught up
[00:01:09] in the trappings of her society, nor did she wonder what others thought of her. Her only thought
[00:01:14] was to obey the Lord and to demonstrate her love for him. In fact, this woman probably knew
[00:01:20] that if the temple leaders saw her meager offering, they would scowl, but she knew God would bless her
[00:01:26] obedience and quiet devotion. Is this the attitude of your heart set on the Savior, or do you compare
[00:01:33] yourself to others and strive to do what appears right from a worldly perspective? God has a different
[00:01:40] grading scale. It's one of grace and infinite love. When the motivation of your heart is right,
[00:01:47] you will sense his good pleasure and blessing. All that you do will glorify him, and he will guard
[00:01:53] your heart and mind with his mercy and grace. Let's pray together. Lord, our purpose in this world is to
[00:02:01] love you with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength. You are worthy of our devotion. Continue
[00:02:08] to search our hearts so that we will be only yours. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
