[00:00:08] Peace in the Storm by Dr. Michael Youssef
[00:00:13] Jesus never promised us a life without problems.
[00:00:16] He told us to expect trouble in persecution.
[00:00:19] He told us that the last days would be full of turbulence and testing.
[00:00:24] He told us that the world would hate us, put us on trial, put us to death.
[00:00:30] But we have a divine peace.
[00:00:33] When you have divine peace, you are like a submarine in a hurricane.
[00:00:38] If you remain on the surface, you will be destroyed.
[00:00:40] But if you dive deep into the ocean of God's love, you will have peace.
[00:00:45] Note, you won't escape the circumstances completely.
[00:00:49] Even if a submarine descends to a depth of 400 feet, it can fill the rocky motion
[00:00:54] of the waves above.
[00:00:56] A hurricane-forced storm on the surface can cause a submarine to roll 10 to 15 degrees
[00:01:02] enough to make some seasick.
[00:01:04] But the crew will be safe beneath the waves because it has gone deep, deep, deep, where
[00:01:10] the turbulent storm cannot destroy it.
[00:01:13] That's why divine peace is like.
[00:01:15] It doesn't mean the storm won't rock your boat.
[00:01:17] It doesn't guarantee that you won't get seasick.
[00:01:20] But it does guarantee peace that surpasses understanding.
[00:01:24] Peace that transcends comprehension.
[00:01:27] Peace that defies explanation.
[00:01:30] It's the peace that only the Lord Jesus Christ can bring you.
[00:01:33] It's a peace that can't be found in the secular world or in any other religion.
[00:01:38] It can be found in Jesus alone.
[00:01:41] Many cry out for peace.
[00:01:43] Many struggle with guilt and fear.
[00:01:45] Their consciences are a war zone.
[00:01:47] Their minds a battlefield.
[00:01:49] Their relationships are stormy seas.
[00:01:52] Their hearts are filled with anxiety and confusion.
[00:01:55] That's why Jesus said in John 14-27, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you.
[00:02:03] I do not give you as the world gives.
[00:02:06] Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
[00:02:10] All the money in the world can't buy you a moment of divine peace.
[00:02:14] All the good works and charitable deeds and religious rituals in this world will never buy
[00:02:19] you God's peace.
[00:02:21] You can't earn it or inherit it or ever be worthy of it.
[00:02:26] But you can have it for free.
[00:02:29] Divine peace is a gift.
[00:02:31] Let's pray together.
[00:02:33] Lord, we confess that often we look elsewhere for peace instead of seeking you, the God
[00:02:38] who is peace.
[00:02:39] May your voice be louder than all of our fears and concerns.
[00:02:44] We pray this in the name of Jesus.
