[00:00:08] Parenting Our Children's Hearts by Dr. Michael Youssef
[00:00:13] As parents, we have an unbelievable opportunity to focus on parenting our children's hearts and inward beliefs.
[00:00:20] Some new parents seek to repeat their childhood experiences, assuming that's the best practice.
[00:00:25] Others vow not to repeat their adolescent experiences for their kids, faulting their parents for their unhappy childhood.
[00:00:33] Still others base their parenting style on the expectations of other parents in their social circles.
[00:00:39] But are any of these approaches to parenting reflective of your faith in God?
[00:00:44] To pass on spiritual and moral values to build up the hearts and characters of our children in righteousness,
[00:00:51] we must take time, with them, to model a godly lifestyle and show them unconditional love with no favoritism.
[00:01:00] Family Bible reading and discussion can help instill biblical truths in the hearts and minds of our children,
[00:01:06] as can scripture, memorization, and prayer.
[00:01:09] You may have other Christ-honoring methods for developing a love of God and His gospel in your children's lives.
[00:01:15] That's wonderful.
[00:01:15] However, we must remember to move from ideas to action.
[00:01:21] It's easy to allow this priority of leading our children in spiritual growth and truth to fall by the wayside.
[00:01:28] Long hours committed to work schedules, multiple employment commitments because of lifestyle issues,
[00:01:34] and many other interests can adversely affect even the best efforts to allocate enough time to parent our children's hearts and inward beliefs.
[00:01:44] Begin a concerted effort now to explore opportunities that will contribute to your family heritage.
[00:01:53] Let's pray together.
[00:01:54] Father, help us to model to our children lives that are committed to you.
[00:01:59] Show us if there's anything that we need to change in our parenting habits.
[00:02:03] Help us to spend time in the Word and in prayer for our children.
[00:02:08] We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
[00:02:11] In a heart for God, lessons from the life of David,
[00:02:15] Dr. Michael Yusef takes you on a journey through the highs and the lows of David's life.
[00:02:21] As you explore his greatest victories and deepest failures in 1st and 2nd Samuel,
[00:02:26] you'll see God's faithfulness to use willing vessels for his glory.
[00:02:31] As you experience David's most desperate cries and the psalms,
[00:02:34] you'll witness the power of a life completely surrendered to God.
