[00:00:08] No Longer Slaves to Sin by Dr. Michael Youssef
[00:00:13] As believers in Christ, we are called to become more like Him with the help of His Spirit.
[00:00:19] This process, known as sanctification, requires our full attention.
[00:00:23] To continually grow in Christ's likeness requires the commitment of our will, the dedication
[00:00:29] of our mind and every ounce of intentionality we can muster.
[00:00:35] There is a world of difference between struggling with our sin and deciding to live in sin as
[00:00:41] an accepted lifestyle.
[00:00:43] Deliberately living in sin is impossible for believers, for we are dead to sin and
[00:00:50] united to Christ.
[00:00:52] In Romans 6, verses 1-14, Paul explains that we have been liberated from sin's control
[00:00:58] and we must not allow it to reign over us.
[00:01:02] Of course this does not mean that we are incapable of sinning.
[00:01:05] Rather, we do not dutifully obey sin like we once did before we were saved.
[00:01:11] We can say no to sin by the power of the Holy Spirit, who is purifying our hearts just
[00:01:17] as Christ is pure.
[00:01:19] Christian, you are not under the dictatorship of sin and Satan anymore.
[00:01:24] Sin is a deposed dictator that no longer has the power to control you.
[00:01:30] Therefore, don't give in to the destructive, sinful patterns in your life.
[00:01:35] Instead, fight them in the power of God.
[00:01:38] Today and every day, count yourself dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
[00:01:47] Let's pray together.
[00:01:48] Father, thank you that we are no longer slaves to sin.
[00:01:53] We are alive in Christ.
[00:01:55] Your Spirit empowers us to say no to sin.
[00:01:59] May we draw on your power today and every day to live for you.
[00:02:04] We pray this in the name of Jesus.
