Meekness and Courage: March 19, 2024

In today’s devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef exhorts us to seek the Truth and listen to God’s voice when conflict arises—then call on the Holy Spirit to empower us to be meek like Christ.

If you would like more insight into today’s devotional topic, listen to Dr. Michael Youssef’s sermon The Spirituality That Heals, Part 8LISTEN NOW

[00:00:00] You are listening to MY Devotional, the Daily Devotional from Dr. Michael Youssef and Leading The Way.

[00:00:30] As we have accepted Christ as our Savior, the enemy knows that he can no longer capture

[00:00:34] our souls, we are saved by the grace of God.

[00:00:37] However, he never backs away from a challenge and sets new goals to disrupt and if possible

[00:00:42] destroy our fellowship with God and with those we love.

[00:00:46] When conflict arises, it is extremely important for us to listen only to the voice of God.

[00:00:53] While there is benefit to the counsel of Godly friends, there is also the danger of missing

[00:00:57] what God wants us to see and learn on our own.

[00:01:02] Therefore, before you react to a situation, ask the Lord to make His truth apparent in

[00:01:07] your heart.

[00:01:09] Wrong perceptions have been the cause of many misunderstandings.

[00:01:13] Set a goal to set aside pride to understand the true motives of the other person, then

[00:01:18] be meek and forgiving as necessary through the power of the Holy Spirit.

[00:01:23] Oftentimes we view meekness as a weakness.

[00:01:26] In actuality, a meek person is not weak or timid.

[00:01:30] In fact, biblical meekness or gentleness is courage, confidence and strength under control.

[00:01:38] God wants us to enjoy meekness as a fruit of the Spirit.

[00:01:42] When we learn how to rest in Him and allow Him to work through us, His meekness will rise

[00:01:47] to the surface of our lives, helping us to walk and fellowship with others as He intends.

[00:01:53] Let's pray together.

[00:01:54] Lord, help us to reflect on hurtful situations before reacting to them.

[00:01:59] Show us our wrongs so that we may ask for forgiveness, brandless insight into the hearts

[00:02:05] of those for whom we have a dispute so that we might have compassion.

[00:02:10] May we extend forgiveness just as we have been forgiven.

[00:02:14] Thank you for the fruit of your meekness and courage.

[00:02:18] We pray this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

[00:02:22] Averse for today Ephesians 4-2.

[00:02:25] Be completely humble and gentle.

[00:02:28] Be patient, bearing with one another in love.
