[00:00:00] Welcome to the Divine Stream Radio Podcast. I'm Jason Blakelock and today we're beginning a powerful section of God's Word as we turn to Hebrews chapter 1. Now Hebrews 1 is not a long chapter but it is rich, like drinking from a deep well. Right away it tells us that God has spoken and He hasn't just spoken in scattered ways. He has spoken in many times and in many ways but there is a clear turning point. God's final and complete message is found in His Son.
[00:00:30] The chapter begins with this beautiful truth, God spoke through the prophets but now at the right time God has spoken through Jesus Christ. And notice what that means, if you want to know what God is like and how God speaks and how God acts, Hebrews points you straight to Jesus. Next, Hebrews makes something very clear. Jesus is not simply an important teacher. Jesus is not merely one among many religious leaders. Hebrews describes Him as the Son appointed by God and far above anything else. The language is majestic.
[00:01:00] It speaks of Jesus as the heir of all things, the one everything belongs to and the one everything moves toward. Then we come to a line that can almost take our breath away. Jesus is described as the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of God's being. In other words, if you ever wonder, what does God look like? What does God sound like? What does God think about us?
[00:01:24] Hebrews says, look to Jesus. He isn't showing us a guess about God. He is revealing God Himself. And Hebrews doesn't stop there. It also explains that Jesus sustains everything. Think about that. The world keeps standing. The world keeps holding together. Not by luck, not by chance, but because Jesus upholds all things. Maybe this explains what dark matter is. That means your life is not out of control.
[00:01:52] The one who holds the universe together is also the one calling you to trust. Now Hebrews 1 also talks about angels. That's important because in Jewish tradition and everyday belief, angels could feel close, powerful, spiritual, even awe-inspiring. But Hebrews draws a contrast. It doesn't say angels are nothing. It honors them as real and as servants of God. Yet it clearly teaches this. Jesus is greater than the angels. It uses powerful comparisons.
[00:02:21] God's word says of Jesus, He is worshipped. He is enthroned. His kingdom is enduring. Angels, by contrast, are described as ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation. And isn't that good news? So the question quietly rises in our hearts. If Jesus is so great, what should we do? Hebrews answers in a very practical way. When God has spoken through His Son, when the message is not just inspiring but true and final,
[00:02:49] then we must not drift. We must not treat the word like background noise. We must respond with attention, reverence and faith. It's my opinion that we must study His word diligently to get it right and to show ourselves approved. Maybe today you're facing uncertainty. Maybe you're wondering where you fit. Maybe your prayers feel unanswered. Hebrews 1 wants you to lift your eyes. Don't start with your feelings. Start with Christ because Christ is the radiance of God's glory.
[00:03:18] Christ is the one who holds all things together. Christ is the one who is worthy of worship. So here's a simple takeaway for today. God has spoken through His Son. Jesus reveals God clearly. Jesus is greater than every spiritual power. Therefore, we can trust Him and we can listen to Him with all our hearts. Thanks for listening.
