[00:00:00] You are listening to My Devotional, the daily devotional from Dr. Michael Youssef and Leading

[00:00:06] the Way.

[00:00:08] God's Rescue Plan by Dr. Michael Youssef We all, like sheep, have gone astray.

[00:00:16] Each of us has turned to our own way.

[00:00:20] All we have to do is look around to see the various directions to which people turn, just like

[00:00:25] sheep.

[00:00:25] Some people try to find happiness through comfort and pleasure.

[00:00:29] Others look for peace and security in their wealth.

[00:00:33] And many look to God but will never find Him in a false religion.

[00:00:37] Left on our own, each and every one of us would continue down one of these paths.

[00:00:42] Just like sheep that has wandered off, if a sinner is not rescued soon, the path he takes

[00:00:49] will eventually lead to destruction.

[00:00:51] When you have time, read Luke 15, verses 1-7.

[00:00:57] In that passage, Jesus describes the Father's sheep rescue plan.

[00:01:02] It's very simple.

[00:01:03] God chases after and saves lost sheep.

[00:01:07] Jesus said He will leave behind the 99 in order to seek and to save one who is lost.

[00:01:13] This means that no matter how lost a sheep has become, no matter how far he's wandered, there's

[00:01:20] still hope.

[00:01:21] God is out looking for him.

[00:01:23] There's nothing that sheep can do, no path he can choose to find God.

[00:01:28] He needs to be rescued.

[00:01:30] No one truly finds God.

[00:01:31] Instead, God finds us.

[00:01:34] Every other religion exists for the sake of helping people find a particular God or gods.

[00:01:40] But Christianity declares that God has come looking for us.

[00:01:45] When Jesus came to earth, that's what He said.

[00:01:48] The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

[00:01:52] He's not afraid to get His hands dirty for the sake of a little lost lamb.

[00:01:56] God loves sinners so much that He goes to extraordinary lengths to find us and bring us home.

[00:02:03] Notice what else Jesus says.

[00:02:05] There will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 righteous

[00:02:12] persons who do not need to repent.

[00:02:16] Many people are so lost that they no longer recognize how lost they are.

[00:02:20] They think they are right where they should be.

[00:02:23] The Pharisees were like this, and there are people with similar mindset today.

[00:02:27] And like a sheep that doesn't know it's wandered off, they fail to recognize the Savior's voice.

[00:02:33] They miss the rescue they so desperately need.

[00:02:37] You may not realize just how lost you've become, but there's good news.

[00:02:42] Jesus has come to rescue you.

[00:02:46] Let's pray together.

[00:02:48] Our Father, thank you for your amazing love.

[00:02:52] Thank you for finding us and calling us out of darkness.

[00:02:56] Help us to follow you all the days of our lives.

[00:02:59] We pray this in the name of Jesus.

[00:03:01] Amen.
