[00:00:00] You are listening to My Devotional, the daily devotional from Dr. Michael Youssef and Leading

[00:00:06] The Way. God's Blessings Are Beautiful by Dr. Michael Youssef

[00:00:13] At the end of Ruth, God's hand at work can be seen clearly. Ruth has married Boaz, and

[00:00:20] the couple has had a baby boy, Obed, who became the father of Jesse, the father of King David.

[00:00:27] Out of Naomi's grief over the loss of Emilek and their sons came the royal family line from which

[00:00:34] our Savior would be born. From the broken pieces of her life came repentance and redemption.

[00:00:41] If you know that you're living under the loving hand of the Sovereign God, then you'll be able to live

[00:00:46] above the temporary setbacks. You'll be able to live without wallowing in regret and wondering

[00:00:52] what might have been. With an eternal perspective, you will see the hand of God at work despite the

[00:00:58] detours and delays you face. And that, my friends, will keep you from sinking into sorrow and becoming

[00:01:04] bitter. It will keep you out of the muck of self-pity too. When you remain focused on the God of

[00:01:11] the Impossible, you'll find unexplainable peace. Naomi's perspective on God gave her hope despite

[00:01:19] shattered dreams. It led her to trust that God's provision, providence, and promises would pull her

[00:01:26] through her despair. Naomi's perspective on the Lord ultimately led her to the joy of holding the

[00:01:33] grandfather of King David in her arms. Likewise, you can have hope even when the future is unknown as

[00:01:40] you trust the God who holds the world in his hands, the God who loves you so much that he did not spare even

[00:01:47] his own son. Tell yourself the gospel and let it lift you up in troubling times. The story of your life

[00:01:55] isn't over yet. God is still at work, redeeming and restoring. One day you will be able to look back and

[00:02:03] see all that he has done. There's no telling how many lives you'll touch if you yield yourself

[00:02:09] completely to the Lord. Naomi made a decision to repent and return to Bethlehem. Ruth made a choice

[00:02:16] to stay with her mother-in-law, thereby placing her trust in Yahweh. From those two acts of daring humility,

[00:02:23] God planted a beautiful family tree which came Obed, Jesse, King David, and many, many years later,

[00:02:33] the Lord Jesus Christ. When God is at work in a person's life, there is no limit to what he can do.

[00:02:41] Let's pray together. Lord, there is no limit to what you can do in our lives. Help us to remember

[00:02:48] this truth, to trust that you are at work to redeem, to restore, to renew. May the circumstances

[00:02:56] that we're going through draw others to you as we rest in your sovereignty. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
