[00:00:00] You are listening to My Devotional, the daily devotional from Dr. Michael Youssef and Leading

[00:00:06] the Way.

[00:00:08] Godly Friendship by Dr. Michael Youssef

[00:00:12] In Ecclesiastes 4, Solomon experiences loneliness and isolation and becomes discouraged. That

[00:00:19] is until he discovers the power of godly companionship. Solomon wrote, Two are better than one because

[00:00:27] they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the

[00:00:32] other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down

[00:00:39] together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered,

[00:00:46] two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

[00:00:51] The Bible tells us that we are to encourage one another, motivate one another, pray for

[00:00:57] one another, uphold one another, support one another, protect one another, and carry one

[00:01:04] another's burdens. As we read in Scripture, as iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens

[00:01:11] another. As Christians, we're called to love each other. In Proverbs 17, 17, we read that

[00:01:17] a friend loves at all times. In the Gospel of John, Jesus says, My command is this, love

[00:01:25] each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one's life

[00:01:32] for one's friends. Let's pray together. Father, we pray that you would put godly friends in

[00:01:39] our lives, guide us in our relationships, and help us to be a good godly friend to those

[00:01:45] around us. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
