[00:00:08] Godlessness in the Last Days by Dr. Michael Youssef.
[00:00:14] Some years ago, in newly elected politician proclaimed,
[00:00:17] we are the children of the modern age.
[00:00:21] If this is true, a good question for us to ask is,
[00:00:25] what has the modern age given us?
[00:00:28] The answers that come to mind are disheartening.
[00:00:31] Crack cocaine, satanic cults, instructions on safe sex,
[00:00:36] misdirected individuals who would instead save a spotted owl
[00:00:40] than an innocent baby inside a mother's womb.
[00:00:44] The modern age is given us a liberal media
[00:00:47] that paints Bible-believing Christians as right-wing zealots and fanatics.
[00:00:52] It's given us the institutional church which has become so entwined
[00:00:56] with the radical left that it's difficult to distinguish between the church
[00:01:01] and the modern age.
[00:01:03] Difficulties like these should not surprise us,
[00:01:06] Paul told Timothy that in the last days,
[00:01:09] people will be lovers of themselves.
[00:01:12] Lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient
[00:01:16] to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love,
[00:01:22] unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control.
[00:01:25] Lovers of pleasure, rather than lovers of God,
[00:01:30] having a form of godliness but denying its power.
[00:01:35] Then he cautions us have nothing to do with such people.
[00:01:40] Despite the world's wickedness that storms around us,
[00:01:43] we can live in victory because we serve a mighty God
[00:01:46] who provides the wisdom we need for every situation.
[00:01:49] When the winds of adversity blow hard against your life,
[00:01:52] take shelter in the Lord, trust Christ when the world turns dark
[00:01:56] and lonely and you will receive the victors crown.
[00:02:00] Remember this the next time trials come your way,
[00:02:02] it's a natural first reaction to ask God to remove any adversity
[00:02:06] from your life. However, hardship and difficulty often provide
[00:02:11] the right atmosphere for spiritual growth.
[00:02:14] Let's pray together, Lord, thank you that you are with us in every trial
[00:02:18] and that you give us the strength to stand.
[00:02:21] Fill us each day with your spirit, we pray,
[00:02:24] and help us not to neglect your word that sustains us with truth.
[00:02:29] We pray this in the name of Jesus, amen.
