[00:00:00] You are listening to MY Devotional, the Daily Devotional from Dr. Michael Youssef and Leading The Way.
[00:00:07] God of Grace by Dr. Michael Youssef Today we will consider the God of Grace and see
[00:00:17] how he dealt with Adam and Eve's sin in rebellion. First, Adam and Eve did not immediately
[00:00:24] die when they sinned in the Garden of Eden. Justice said they must die. God's grace came
[00:00:30] and said, yes, spiritually, they will die but physically I'm going to spare them.
[00:00:37] That's what the grace of God does. God said, the day you eat from the tree, that day
[00:00:42] you will die. That's justice. If you break the law, you go to prison. That's justice.
[00:00:48] But grace comes in and says, I will give you time to repent. Let grace work one more
[00:00:54] time. Second, the God of Grace promised Adam and Eve a redeemer. Why? To undo Satan's deception.
[00:01:04] Genesis 315 says, and I will put enmity between you and the woman in between your offspring
[00:01:10] and hers he will crush your head and you will strike his heel. Here's the first announcement
[00:01:16] of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Thousands of years passed before the promise of Genesis
[00:01:22] 315 was fulfilled. The angel said to Joseph in Matthew 121, you are to give him the name
[00:01:29] Jesus because he will save his people from their sins. But God always fulfills his promises
[00:01:36] no matter how long it takes. Third, the God of Grace saved our first parents and demonstrated
[00:01:44] for us the cost of sin. Genesis 321 says, the Lord God made garments of skin for Adam
[00:01:51] and his wife and clothed them. Notice the sequence here. After they believed in God, the Lord
[00:01:57] made garments of skin and he clothed them with the garments. To do that, Adam and Eve
[00:02:03] had to witness the first slain of an innocent animal, the first shedding of blood in the
[00:02:08] history of creation, which was a foreshadowing of the sacrificial system to come and the
[00:02:14] ultimate sacrifice that would be paid by the divine, spotless lamb, our Redeemer. Let's
[00:02:21] pray together, Lord thank you for being a God of grace. Thank you that the grace that
[00:02:27] you showed to Adam and Eve is the same grace that you showed to us today. We pray in
[00:02:32] the name of Jesus, Amen. If today's devotional encouraged you, we'd love to hear about it,
