[00:00:00] You are listening to MY Devotional, the Daily Devotional from Dr. Michael Youssef and Leading The Way.
[00:00:08] God is Our Faithful Guide by Dr. Michael Youssef.
[00:00:14] When we find ourselves in one of life's darker moments, we often forget that Jesus is the light of the world.
[00:00:21] We grow up in the dark for something to shed light on our situation and lead us to hope.
[00:00:26] Sometimes we trip and fall numerous times before the truth in our heads reaches our lips.
[00:00:32] Stuck in a cave while hiding from King Saul, David quickly learned where to turn when gropeing around in the darkness got him nowhere.
[00:00:41] He cried out to God.
[00:00:43] Throughout the book of Psalms, we read, David's heartfelt cries to the Lord.
[00:00:50] David yearn for God to reach down and save him from looming disaster.
[00:00:56] Time and again, God answered David's prayers by delivering him from his enemies.
[00:01:01] When trouble struck, David turned to God almost immediately because he realized one crucial fact he was helpless without him.
[00:01:09] Understanding our depravity is critical to turning to the Lord in prayer.
[00:01:13] We make a huge mistake when we think we can solve our own problems alone,
[00:01:19] failure to consult the Lord on which direction to take only leads to more trouble.
[00:01:24] Plotting and trying to determine our course leaves us exhausted and confused.
[00:01:30] However, when we realize that we, like David, are helpless without God, we quickly pray to him.
[00:01:36] Fumbling around in the dark only results in scars and rough tumbles.
[00:01:41] There are no light switches and caves, only passageways to the surface.
[00:01:47] And God is the best guide we could ever have.
[00:01:52] Let's pray together.
[00:01:53] Lord help us to understand that we can't solve all of life's problems alone.
[00:01:58] We need you more than anything or anyone else.
[00:02:02] We pray this in the name of Jesus, amen.
