The decline of genuine Christian faith in America is our most pressing trouble. This loss of faith has hollowed out our society from within. As the psalmist said, “When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3). Many believers are asking the same question today. In today’s devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef encourages us that Jesus is on His throne no matter the trouble.

[00:00:00] You are listening to My Devotional, the Daily Devotional from Dr. Michael Youssef and Leading
[00:00:06] The Way.
[00:00:08] God is on the throne by Dr. Michael Youssef.
[00:00:13] When anxiety and uncertainty surround us, God is still in control.
[00:00:19] The decline of true Christian faith in America is our most pressing trouble.
[00:00:23] This loss of faith has hollowed out our society from within.
[00:00:28] It's just as the Psalmist said, when the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?
[00:00:34] Many believers are asking the same question today.
[00:00:38] Even so, I have hope.
[00:00:40] Hope that is based on the changeless and immovable promises of God.
[00:00:45] As I already mentioned in times like these, it is imperative, not recommended, not suggested,
[00:00:51] not just preferable.
[00:00:53] It is imperative that we go to God's Word and learn from His prophets.
[00:00:58] During Isaiah's lifetime, the nation of Judah too went through a period of anxiety and uncertainty.
[00:01:04] Isaiah 6-1 tells us, In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord high and exalted,
[00:01:12] seated on the throne, and the train of his robe filled the temple.
[00:01:18] How many people read past those opening words, but God isn't merely telling us that it was
[00:01:24] the year Uzziah died as a way of marking a date.
[00:01:28] He's giving us that bit of information so we might recognize it was a season of change
[00:01:33] for the people of Judah.
[00:01:35] The nation was traumatized by Uzziah's death.
[00:01:38] Although he wasn't a perfect man, far from it, he was a good king, more godly than
[00:01:43] the king who came before him and reigned after him.
[00:01:47] Isaiah led the nation for fifty-two years and had been the people's hope, but now he
[00:01:52] was gone, and the people wondered, What shall we do now?
[00:01:57] Isaiah must have wondered that too, but then he saw the Lord with his own eyes, seated
[00:02:02] on his glorious throne.
[00:02:04] The message?
[00:02:06] Regardless of who sits upon the thrones of this world, the true King of kings reigns
[00:02:11] in heaven above.
[00:02:13] Isaiah gave Isaiah a renewed vision of reality and a season of anxiety, worry, and fear.
[00:02:20] Although Isaiah received this remarkable vision of the Lord on his throne, he never got to experience
[00:02:26] the power and strength of the resurrected Jesus.
[00:02:29] Our King, who was mocked and flogged, who was crucified and buried, rose victorious
[00:02:35] on the third day.
[00:02:37] Our King, who was hated and had nowhere to lay his head, is now reigning and
[00:02:41] ruling on the rim of the universe.
[00:02:44] We can depend on him no matter what comes our way.
[00:02:48] Let's pray together.
[00:02:49] Lord, thank You that You never change.
[00:02:52] You are steadfast, an anchor that holds.
[00:02:56] We trust in You.
[00:02:57] We have confidence in Your love and promises, even when this world and the circumstances
[00:03:03] look bleak.
[00:03:04] We pray this in the name of Jesus.
[00:03:06] Amen.
