[00:00:08] Give of Yourself by Dr. Michael Youssef
[00:00:12] One of the high points of a worship service should be the time the offering is collected.
[00:00:17] Many people, however, fail to realize the great blessing that is theirs through giving to God.
[00:00:24] They withhold their time, talent, and money from the Lord, and by doing so they miss a
[00:00:29] tremendous blessing.
[00:00:30] True praise incorporates giving.
[00:00:33] We cannot praise God adequately without giving something of ourselves to Him through prayer
[00:00:38] or praise.
[00:00:39] In Exodus 23, 19, God admonishes us to honor Him with the first fruits of our crops.
[00:00:47] We give to God because we know He loves us and He's given more of Himself to us than we
[00:00:52] could ever give back.
[00:00:53] Giving is an integral part of worship and praise, but it is not restricted solely to finances.
[00:01:01] Jesus explained this to His disciples in the parable of the sheep and the goats.
[00:01:06] Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of
[00:01:11] mine, you did for me.
[00:01:12] We actually praise and honor God when we show kindness and care for someone else.
[00:01:17] You may be wondering if God really cares whether or not you give.
[00:01:21] Well, He does, but not because He needs your gift.
[00:01:25] What He desires is your declaration of faith in Him.
[00:01:29] Through giving, we acknowledge God as the one who's in control of all things.
[00:01:34] We also testify to our dependence on Him and that we are only stewards of what He has given
[00:01:40] to us.
[00:01:41] Regardless of your financial status, God is the one who has provided for every need you
[00:01:47] have.
[00:01:48] He is totally faithful.
[00:01:49] Therefore, He is worthy of your praise, honor, and worship.
[00:01:54] Each of us can give the first portion of our time, talents, and wealth to the Lord.
[00:01:59] When we do, we acknowledge Him as the source of all blessing.
[00:02:04] Let's pray together.
[00:02:05] Lord, we acknowledge that You are the giver of all good things.
[00:02:09] We freely open our hands to You.
[00:02:12] Show us opportunities to be exceedingly generous in loving You and loving our neighbors.
[00:02:17] We pray this in the name of Jesus.
[00:02:20] Amen.
