[00:00:11] In Luke chapter 16 verses 1 through 15, Jesus tells us the parable about the shrewd manager.
[00:00:20] The manager had many faults, but he was smart enough to use his resources to plan for the
[00:00:25] future.
[00:00:25] Jesus explained, I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when
[00:00:33] it is gone you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.
[00:00:37] How can we use our resources to gain friends for eternity?
[00:00:41] By committing our time, our money, and our spiritual gifts to sharing the gospel with others.
[00:00:47] Jesus is not saying that we buy our friends.
[00:00:50] He is saying that by committing our resources now to the ministry of the gospel, we will
[00:00:56] have friends in heaven who will welcome us with joy because we helped make it possible
[00:01:00] for them to hear about Jesus.
[00:01:03] In this life, we will never know the full impact we have had on others.
[00:01:09] We may never know if that person we witnessed to ever committed himself to Christ.
[00:01:13] We may not realize the true impact of the money we gave to spread the gospel.
[00:01:18] We may not discover the effect we had as a Bible study teacher, or a small group leader,
[00:01:23] or a nursery worker.
[00:01:25] But we will in heaven.
[00:01:27] In heaven, we will meet those people who learned of God's love because of something we did.
[00:01:34] Let's pray together.
[00:01:35] God, give us your eyes to see the lost around us, your words to share the hope we have in you.
[00:01:43] We pray this in the name of Jesus.
