[00:00:00] You are listening to My Devotional, the daily devotional from Dr. Michael Youssef and Leading

[00:00:06] the Way. Everlasting Father by Dr. Michael Youssef

[00:00:12] 700 years before Jesus was born, God told Isaiah about the Messiah, describing him with titles.

[00:00:19] The third title given for Jesus is Everlasting Father. Isaiah was not confusing God the Father

[00:00:27] with God the Son. Often when someone is attributed with leading a certain field or founding an

[00:00:33] organization, they are labeled the Father of that area. That is why the men who shaped our emerging nation

[00:00:41] are called Founding Fathers. The early church leaders are called the Church Fathers. The Bible uses the term

[00:00:48] Father in the same way to imply an originator or a pioneer. God wanted us to know that Jesus would

[00:00:55] be the pioneer of God's revelation for eternal life and that he would be the founder of a new creation.

[00:01:02] God loves us so much that he has made a way through the Everlasting Father for us to be with him forever.

[00:01:11] Only Jesus could be Everlasting Father because only he knew the depth of our sin and the depth of God's

[00:01:18] love. Because Jesus is fully God and fully man, living without sin and with perfect righteousness,

[00:01:25] he is the only one who can reveal every aspect of our sinfulness and wickedness. For we all have sinned

[00:01:34] and fallen short of the glory of God, but he walked with us and lived perfectly. Jesus also knows God's heart.

[00:01:42] He knows the Father because he has experienced God's love. And he knows that God did not want to leave us

[00:01:49] forever separated from him because of our sin. His love is too deep. God's justice demands that our sin

[00:01:56] be paid for, but his love demands that we be close to him. So Jesus, holy, righteous Jesus, satisfied God's

[00:02:05] justice by giving his sinless life and paying the price for our sins. Then to satisfy God's great grace,

[00:02:13] he offered us, hell-deserving sinners, eternal life. His sacrifice for us reveals God's great love

[00:02:22] and is the foundation of the new creation. Let's pray together. Everlasting Father, thank you for being

[00:02:30] perfectly just in pain for all sin and perfectly loving by offering us eternal life. Your grace

[00:02:39] is astounding. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
