[00:00:12] [SPEAKER_00]: The Old Testament prophet Daniel had plenty of reasons to be afraid.
[00:00:17] [SPEAKER_00]: He was captured as a teenager and taken to a foreign land.
[00:00:21] [SPEAKER_00]: He was separated from his godly family and forced to live among pagans.
[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_00]: He was routinely tested both academically and spiritually.
[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_00]: He met face to face with the greatest ruler of the day.
[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Yet Daniel did not allow fear to control him.
[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Daniel focused on God not on his circumstances.
[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Daniel obeyed God's law, not the pagan laws.
[00:00:45] [SPEAKER_00]: And through Daniel's love, faith and obedience to God, he thrived in an ungodly land.
[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_00]: We are also living in a foreign land.
[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_00]: On a daily basis we face temptations to conform to the world's standards.
[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_00]: God's love for us is called into question every day by the world.
[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_00]: We are routinely tested in our faith and character.
[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_00]: But like Daniel, we must remember the love of God and put faith above fear in order to survive these obstacles.
[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_00]: But how can we overcome our fear with faith in a practical way?
[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_00]: First, we need to prepare for the test by studying God's Word.
[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_00]: We learn the truth by studying what God says in Scripture.
[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And the more we make reading the Bible a part of our daily routine,
[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_00]: the more we desire and appreciate it.
[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_00]: How sweet are your words to my taste sweeter than honey to my mouth?
[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I gain understanding from your precepts, therefore I hate every wrong path.
[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_00]: If you're paralyzed by fear and something's holding you back from stepping out in faith,
[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_00]: ask for the Holy Spirit's guidance to help you overcome fear.
[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Commit to studying God's Word and applying it to your life.
[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Ask for God's help as you begin to trust Him more and more.
[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's pray together.
[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_00]: God help us to follow the example of Daniel and to put faith above fear.
[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Help us to focus on you and to spend time in your Word.
[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_00]: We pray this in the name of Jesus, amen.
