[00:00:00] You are listening to My Devotional, the daily devotional from Dr. Michael Youssef and Leading

[00:00:06] the Way. Consider What God Sees by Dr. Michael Youssef. David knew a little something about

[00:00:15] righteous anger. You can see that in Ephesians 4, 26. And in Psalm 37, he shares the wisdom

[00:00:22] he gained dealing with the tremendous injustices enacted against him. First, he says we

[00:00:30] ought to be encouraged by what we do not see. Do not fret because of those who are evil.

[00:00:37] Why? Because like the grass, they will soon wither. Those who sin against us may appear to

[00:00:44] be happy and successful, but they are often angry and guilt-ridden. They lack peace, and

[00:00:51] ultimately, the wicked never prosper. We can be encouraged by these eternal truths of a

[00:00:58] present yet hidden reality. Second, David says we ought to be encouraged by what we already

[00:01:05] have. He says, Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. If

[00:01:12] we learn to delight in God above all else, then no one and nothing will shake us, because all

[00:01:19] our heart's desires will be met in him. If your desire is his desire, and your will is to do his

[00:01:27] will. If your delight is in his delight, and your joy is in his joy, then he's become everything to

[00:01:35] you, and he promises to give you even more of himself, your heart's treasure. Third, we ought to

[00:01:44] be encouraged by what is coming to us. King David says, Those who are evil will be destroyed, but those

[00:01:51] who hope in the Lord will inherit the land. The meek will inherit the land, and enjoy peace and prosperity.

[00:01:59] Friend, you will one day reign and rule with Christ. You will inherit what Jesus inherits as his co-heir.

[00:02:09] Finally, David says we should be encouraged because God's judgment is coming to the wicked.

[00:02:15] The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them, but the Lord laughs at the

[00:02:23] wicked, for he knows their day. There is a coming judgment day, and it will be unbearable for all who

[00:02:29] refuse the gift of salvation. If you knew what God knows about the future, you would not waste a

[00:02:36] nanosecond being jealous of the success of the wicked. Friend, no matter what sufferings you endure

[00:02:45] in this life, they are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. Let's pray.

[00:02:53] Father, thank you that your justice is perfect and will be complete at your coming. We praise you for

[00:03:01] your gracious promises of an eternal inheritance in heaven with you. May your love support us when we

[00:03:09] struggle with the prosperity of the wicked. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
