[00:00:09] Conditions for Blessing by Dr. Michael Youssef
[00:00:14] In Ephesians 3, verses 14-21, Paul reminds us of the heavenly blessings available to
[00:00:21] us and describes the conditions for grasping, understanding and implementing the power of
[00:00:27] those spiritual blessings here and now.
[00:00:30] Sadly, many Christians know these blessings but fail to apply them to everyday life.
[00:00:36] We can read about these wonderful gifts in Scripture, but that's like getting a note
[00:00:40] from the post office telling you there's a package waiting for you, the next step is
[00:00:44] to go pick it up, but you don't go.
[00:00:47] In the same way, there are many things we must do to take hold of God's blessings
[00:00:52] and grow spiritually.
[00:00:54] First, we must be daily empowered by the Spirit of God.
[00:00:59] When you came to Christ, your spirit was made alive, but your spirit and flesh still war.
[00:01:05] Feed your spirit on the Word of God, then you will grow spiritually, and when you grow
[00:01:09] spiritually sin will be stunted.
[00:01:13] Ten years from now you'll reflect on your life and see a tremendous difference.
[00:01:18] Second, Christ must dwell in our hearts.
[00:01:21] He may be thinking, but I thought Christ came to live in me through the Holy Spirit the moment
[00:01:26] I first believed.
[00:01:28] Yes, that's true.
[00:01:29] However, being indwelt by Christ means that we give our lives over to Him more and more
[00:01:35] each day.
[00:01:36] We allow Him to shape us so that we become more like Him.
[00:01:41] Third, we are to be mastered by love.
[00:01:44] The more room you give Christ in your life, the more He will reveal to you His indescribable
[00:01:49] love.
[00:01:50] The more He exercises lordship over your decisions, finances, calendar and relationships, the
[00:01:57] more He will display His love in and through you to others.
[00:02:01] Finally, the apostle Paul says we are to be filled to the measure of all the fullness
[00:02:06] of God.
[00:02:08] Every time you give Jesus more space, territory and control in your life, His presence will
[00:02:13] fill you.
[00:02:14] He will fill your mind, your heart, your emotions until His presence spills over
[00:02:19] unto the people around you.
[00:02:22] Whatever areas of your life you have not given over to Jesus yet, bring them to Him today.
[00:02:28] Invite Him to take control that you might be indwelt by Christ, mastered by love and
[00:02:35] filled to overflowing with the joy and love of God.
[00:02:40] Let's pray together.
[00:02:41] Father, forgive us for neglecting your precious gifts.
[00:02:45] We long to grow spiritually rooted and built up in you for our good and for your name.
[00:02:53] We pray this in the name of Jesus.
