[00:00:07] Coming back to the cross by Dr. Michael Youssef When John showed up at the cross, Jesus did not say to him,
[00:00:16] John, where were you? I was looking for you. I thought that of all the disciples you would have been the one who would have stood by me during the trial. Where were you, John? There was no repute.
[00:00:27] There was no, I told you so. Rather he looked at him, gave him the higher responsibility that our dying Savior could give to anyone. He said,
[00:00:37] "'Sug, here is your mother.' The Lord was saying that he wanted John the substitute for him. He wanted John to stand in his place to speak for him to care for his mother.
[00:00:49] Some of us have made promises to the Lord promises that we are going to walk closely with him, promises that we will spend time with him, time in his word.
[00:00:58] We have made those promises and then got busy and forcik those promises. We got tired and let go of the promises, disappointed with the circumstances of life and gave up on the promises that we had made to God.
[00:01:10] Thankfully, we can repent, return to Jesus and receive His loving care and direction today.
[00:01:17] Let's pray together. God, we realize today that we need to come back to the cross. We need to kneel at your feet in adoration and love and follow through on the promises that we have made to you.
[00:01:30] Thank you for being patient with us. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
