[00:00:00] You are listening to My Devotional, the Daily Devotional from Dr. Michael Youssef and Leading

[00:00:06] The Way.

[00:00:08] Champions Know When to Lean on God by Dr. Michael Youssef

[00:00:13] In today's society, people constantly shift blame on others.

[00:00:18] There is always some excuse to explain away the actions of people who need to be held

[00:00:22] accountable.

[00:00:23] While our society loves to bestow grace, it struggles to see how grace and consequences

[00:00:29] for our actions can live together.

[00:00:32] Adopting this type of attitude can stunt our relationship with God.

[00:00:37] God is a God of grace and redemption, so much so that He sacrificed His only Son for the

[00:00:43] forgiveness of our sins.

[00:00:45] Yet Jesus' death was the consequence of our sin.

[00:00:49] The consequences of sin are not dismissed simply because grace is endowed upon us.

[00:00:55] Do we really think that we need to confess our sins?

[00:00:58] And if so, do we think it's our fault that we sinned?

[00:01:02] Answering these questions will help us determine whether we're truly living by this kingdom

[00:01:08] principle—that we are sinners who have been ransomed with Jesus' blood and who

[00:01:12] still must confess sin.

[00:01:14] If we do not confess and repent, we may try to hide from our Savior instead of receiving

[00:01:20] His transforming and freeing love and grace.

[00:01:23] So if we intend to experience wholeness, we must confess our sins to God and ask for His

[00:01:30] forgiveness.

[00:01:31] Whenever we turn to Christ, even in the midst of our brokenness, He is there for us, putting

[00:01:37] back together for us the shattered pieces.

[00:01:40] A true champion knows when to lean on God, and that time is always.

[00:01:46] We cannot conquer the sin in our lives on our own.

[00:01:49] We need to put on the altar those attitudes and habits that produce sin in our lives and

[00:01:56] invite God to bring about the cleansing that purifies us.

[00:02:00] When we're diligent to confess our sins and accept responsibility for our actions, God

[00:02:06] is faithful to respond and lovingly restore us to wholeness.

[00:02:12] Let's pray together.

[00:02:13] Lord, help us to be more aware of our sin and more faithful to confess it to You.

[00:02:20] We pray this in the name of Jesus, amen.
