Do you know where to turn in the midst of brokenness? Have you exchanged self-reliance for absolute trust in the living God?

[00:00:06] The Way.

[00:00:08] Champions Build Character by Dr. Michael Youssef

[00:00:13] Cheating produces hollow victories, yet people cheat every day in some form or another.

[00:00:18] They cheat in their jobs, taking shortcuts to get desired results, telling themselves

[00:00:23] the end justifies the means.

[00:00:26] People cheat on their families, robbing them of quality time for other selfish ambitions.

[00:00:32] People cheat in school, forging time and energy spent in study in exchange for a quick and

[00:00:38] easy answer.

[00:00:39] But if a person cheats and wins, does he really win?

[00:00:43] How satisfying is it to reach a goal obtained through cheating?

[00:00:48] What an empty accomplishment.

[00:00:50] Playing by the rules is the only way to play.

[00:00:53] As believers, we must remember that we are in the middle of God's script for our lives,

[00:00:58] and there are no shortcuts to the end.

[00:01:00] We cannot opt to skip life's difficulties in favor of a quick road to God's blessings.

[00:01:06] We cannot be molded into His image without having our feet held to the fire.

[00:01:11] It's during these character-building moments that we define what kind of believers we're

[00:01:16] going to be.

[00:01:17] Those who run when life gets tough, or those who are faithful to God no matter

[00:01:21] how difficult the situation appears.

[00:01:24] When the Prophet Samuel came to David's home and anointed him as the next king of Israel,

[00:01:29] David did not know what trials were ahead, but he trusted God.

[00:01:34] Even when King Saul pursued him in an effort to kill him, David never attempted to circumvent

[00:01:40] God's plan for his life.

[00:01:42] With a quick stroke of his sword, David could have ended Saul's life and begun his reign

[00:01:48] as king of Israel.

[00:01:49] But David wanted God to be the one who placed him in power.

[00:01:55] Let's pray together.

[00:01:56] Lord, we thank You for the example of David's humility and trust in You.

[00:02:01] Give us the patience to wait upon Your timing for our lives as He did.

[00:02:07] We pray this in the name of Jesus.

[00:02:09] Amen.
