By Grace Alone: September 1, 2024

Salvation is not dependent on either our ethnicity or church attendance. Our relationship with God is a matter of the heart. In today’s devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef reminds us that the ground is level at the foot of the cross.

[00:00:00] You are listening to My Devotional, the Daily Devotional from Dr. Michael Youssef and Leading

[00:00:06] The Way.

[00:00:08] By Grace Alone by Dr. Michael Youssef.

[00:00:13] Throughout the Old Testament, the Bible speaks of the faithful remnant within ethnic Israel.

[00:00:20] It was always faith in God, not simply being Jewish, that ultimately saved anyone.

[00:00:26] Claiming that all Jewish people had faith in God would be like asserting that all churchgoers

[00:00:31] today are born again.

[00:00:33] Of course, salvation does not depend on our ethnicity or church attendance.

[00:00:38] Our relationship with God is a matter of the heart.

[00:00:42] When the Jews hardened their hearts and rejected the Messiah, what did God do?

[00:00:47] He used their rejection to bring the Gentiles to salvation and to make His people envious

[00:00:52] that they might come to their Messiah.

[00:00:55] God used Israel's rejection of Jesus as a means of grace, not only for their good, but

[00:01:01] for the good of the Gentiles.

[00:01:03] You see, our indescribable God is the God of all grace.

[00:01:07] Both Jew and Gentile alike can only be saved by His mercy through the sacrifice of the

[00:01:13] Lord Jesus Christ.

[00:01:15] Salvation is based only on the merits of Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice on

[00:01:21] the cross.

[00:01:21] Therefore, not one of us has any room to boast, brag, or feel superior to another.

[00:01:29] We are all sinners who deserve hell apart from Christ.

[00:01:33] The ground is level at the foot of the cross.

[00:01:36] This is the gospel.

[00:01:38] This is the Christian faith.

[00:01:40] The door is wide open to everyone who will repent regardless of who they are and what

[00:01:46] their background may be.

[00:01:47] No sinner is beyond Christ's ability to redeem.

[00:01:51] That is indeed good news.

[00:01:54] Let's pray together.

[00:01:56] God, we are all creatures deserving of wrath and yet You show us mercy, even new mercy

[00:02:02] every morning.

[00:02:03] Thank You for Your grace.

[00:02:05] Thank You for making us Your children.

[00:02:08] We pray this in the name of Jesus.

[00:02:10] Amen.
