[00:00:14] How do you build your life on the solid rock of Jesus Christ?
[00:00:18] By holding on to something that is secure and immovable.
[00:00:22] That's why Paul says in 2 Thessalonians 2.15, Stand firm and hold fast to the teachings
[00:00:29] we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.
[00:00:34] Those teachings, the truth of the gospel, the foundation of the Christian faith as it
[00:00:38] was handed to us from Jesus, are your anchor in the storm.
[00:00:43] Those teachings are the rock-solid foundation of your faith.
[00:00:47] They consist of the historical evidence of Christ's life, Christ's teaching, Christ's
[00:00:53] miraculous work, Christ's identity as the Son of God, Christ's redeeming death on the
[00:01:00] cross, Christ's resurrection on the third day, Christ's ascension into heaven, Christ's
[00:01:07] promise to come back and judge the world.
[00:01:11] The stability of our faith is rooted in the rock-solid evidence of the Lord Jesus
[00:01:16] and the salvation He obtained for us on the cross.
[00:01:20] Our security is based on God's sovereign choice and unconditional love for us.
[00:01:28] Paul concludes 2 Thessalonians 2. with a prayer that the God of power might always comfort
[00:01:35] and strengthen the Thessalonian Christians, and Christians in all places.
[00:01:40] His prayer teaches us an all-important lesson.
[00:01:44] Your stability, our ability to stand firm on the good news of Christ rests on the foundation
[00:01:51] of God's unchanging love.
[00:01:55] Let's pray together.
[00:01:57] Lord, how firm a foundation is the gospel.
[00:02:02] We praise You for the amazing gift of Christ's sacrifice on the cross for the sins of
[00:02:08] the world and for our sins.
[00:02:10] May we rest in the unchangeable identity as Your children and pursue righteousness with
[00:02:17] thanksgiving.
[00:02:18] We pray this in the name of Jesus.
