[00:00:08] BLESSED BEYOND MEASURE by Dr. Michael Youssef
[00:00:13] In Ephesians Paul tells us God has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual
[00:00:19] blessing in Christ.
[00:00:21] There are at least 10 benefits of our connection to Christ, 10 blessings that are ours
[00:00:26] in Christ Jesus.
[00:00:28] First, we have been resurrected from sin and death.
[00:00:32] It sounds basic, but the number one lie concerning the Christian faith is that if you are a good
[00:00:37] person then you go to heaven.
[00:00:39] The truth is, you and I were born spiritually dead and dead people can't do good works.
[00:00:46] The second benefit is that we have been lovingly transformed.
[00:00:50] Once we were objects of God's wrath, but because Jesus paid for our sins we are
[00:00:55] now objects of God's mercy.
[00:00:58] The third benefit is the flip side of the first.
[00:01:01] We have been given a new life.
[00:01:04] When you came to Christ in confession and repentance, inviting Him to be the Lord of
[00:01:09] your life, He breathed new life into your dead spirit.
[00:01:13] Fourth, we now have a purpose for living.
[00:01:17] Wherever we are, we are to live as representatives of heaven here on earth.
[00:01:23] The fifth benefit is that we have been given good works to do.
[00:01:27] These works do not save us.
[00:01:29] However, now that we are saved, we get to do good works out of our love for God.
[00:01:36] Sixth, we have been given heavenly citizenship.
[00:01:40] Before Christ no one could call heaven their true home.
[00:01:44] We were all separated from God.
[00:01:47] It is only Jesus who can carry us across the divide.
[00:01:50] Only Jesus can bring us back to the Father.
[00:01:53] Seventh, God has given us a new identity.
[00:01:57] Our identity is now found in Christ, not in our sins, mistakes or regrets.
[00:02:02] We have the righteousness of God, so now we can freely enter the presence of the Almighty.
[00:02:09] Our eighth benefit, we now have the peace of Christ.
[00:02:14] If we take hold of the peace He offers, it will extend to all our relationships.
[00:02:20] Ninth, we have a new family.
[00:02:22] The cross tore down the hostility between every background and race.
[00:02:27] In Christ all believers are brothers and sisters.
[00:02:31] Finally, we have been given a new home, and Christ is its foundation.
[00:02:36] It is a home where the truth of the Word of God reigns supreme, a home that will never
[00:02:42] crumble.
[00:02:43] Let us pray together.
[00:02:44] Lord, thank You for the many blessings You have given to us as Your children.
[00:02:48] May the reality of these blessings fuel us for the work that You have given to us to
[00:02:53] do us a delight.
[00:02:54] We pray this in the name of Jesus.
