[00:00:16] The person who manifests God's goodness thinks good thoughts, speaks good words, and performs
[00:00:22] good deeds.
[00:00:23] What the person thinks lines up with what he speaks, and what he speaks lines up with what
[00:00:28] he does.
[00:00:29] He is consistent in the integrity of his life.
[00:00:33] Through self-justification and excuse-making, Satan attacks our integrity and tempts us to
[00:00:39] disguise our sins so that we fool ourselves about what is truly good.
[00:00:44] Whether it's the woman who justifies leaving her husband because she's unhappy, or the
[00:00:50] alcoholic who explains away his drinking as stress relief, these people are not experiencing
[00:00:56] goodness.
[00:00:57] They are living a lie.
[00:00:59] The problem is that our flesh prefers the lie, but this is the way to destruction.
[00:01:06] Writing to the Galatians in the middle of the first century AD, Paul warns against the very
[00:01:12] same sins we face today, saying, the acts of the flesh are obvious, sexual immorality, impurity,
[00:01:21] and debauchery, idolatry, and witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions,
[00:01:33] factions, and envy, drunkenness, orgies, and the like.
[00:01:39] Lies and deception fragment our lives.
[00:01:43] We are torn between what we do and what we should do.
[00:01:47] It is always Satan's purpose to separate us from God and to divide us from one another.
[00:01:53] Satan seeks to create disharmony in our emotions, thoughts, and motives.
[00:01:57] The works of the flesh create confusion over what is right and wrong and cause division in
[00:02:04] our relationships, birthing distrust and alienation.
[00:02:08] They are in direct conflict with the Spirit, who produces love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness,
[00:02:18] goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in our lives.
[00:02:24] If we will but walk in the light of truth.
[00:02:28] Let's pray together.
[00:02:29] God, forgive us for justifying our sins.
[00:02:33] There are inconsistencies in our lives that can only be corrected with the help of your Spirit.
[00:02:39] Show us how we can develop integrity and goodness in our lives today.
[00:02:45] We pray this in the name of Jesus.
[00:02:48] Amen.
