[00:00:12] When you have a moment, read Romans chapter 7, verses 1 through 6.
[00:00:19] Many Christians today are confused about the balance of grace and obedience.
[00:00:24] One extreme would have us use grace as a license to sin.
[00:00:28] The other is legalism, relying on our good works for our ultimate salvation.
[00:00:35] You know, you're under the influence of legalism when you get up in the morning and say,
[00:00:39] I've got to obey today or else. When you find mild success, you pat yourself on the back with
[00:00:45] pride, but when you miss the mark, you become overwhelmed with guilt and shame.
[00:00:51] Praise be to God! Romans 7 gives us a more excellent way.
[00:00:56] True freedom is no longer found in our performance. That was the old way of the law,
[00:01:02] but by trusting Christ's powerful work in us through His Spirit.
[00:01:07] Only by looking to Jesus for help in our daily struggles can we find joy,
[00:01:12] freedom and victory. So today, accept the fact that you're capable of any and every sin.
[00:01:19] Acknowledge your vulnerability and admit your need for God's help,
[00:01:23] and you'll be in a better position to guard yourself against pride.
[00:01:27] The moment you say, I've got this, that's when you're in trouble.
[00:01:32] We all desperately need the help that our only Savior Jesus Christ can give,
[00:01:39] and praise the Lord for He gives it freely. Let's pray together.
[00:01:45] Father, we know that our performance cannot save us,
[00:01:50] but your Holy Spirit can and will help us follow you with all of our hearts today.
[00:01:57] We rejoice in your amazing grace that transforms our hearts of stone to hearts of flesh.
[00:02:03] We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
