[00:00:30] The first Thessalonians to his message was true to God's instruction. His motives were pure toward God and toward the Thessalonians.
[00:00:39] All his actions and methods were open and above board.
[00:00:42] Why did Paul think it necessary to underscore his obligation as a faithful steward of the gospel?
[00:00:48] Because stewards are sometimes tempted to go into business for themselves.
[00:00:53] Many people today are exploiting the gospel for personal gain.
[00:00:57] They live in big houses and fly in private jets purchased by people who give sacrificial to their organizations.
[00:01:04] Paul could have profited from the gospel as well, but he wanted the Thessalonians to know that his motives were pure and the gospel he preached to them was untainted by greed or the ambition for fame.
[00:01:17] You and I are stewards as well.
[00:01:20] Like Paul, God has entrusted us with the good news of Jesus Christ and we need to manage this precious asset with absolute integrity and purity.
[00:01:30] We need to share the good news with everyone around us.
[00:01:34] We are stewards of our finances which God has entrusted to us. We are stewards of our time which He has entrusted to us.
[00:01:42] We are stewards of the gospel which He has entrusted to us.
[00:01:46] We are also stewards of all that we are and all that we have.
[00:01:52] We own nothing, not even ourselves.
[00:01:55] We have to give an account to the Master and he's coming soon.
[00:01:59] Let's pray together.
[00:02:01] Lord, thank You for the high calling of stewardship that You have given to us. Help us to stay focused on You and to bring all aspects of our lives into submission to You.
[00:02:11] May we steward the resources that You have given us with integrity so that our witness is not tainted.
[00:02:18] We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
