[00:00:08] A Drop of Oil in God's Hands by Dr. Michael Youssef
[00:00:14] When a situation seems impossible, we must remember that nothing is impossible for God.
[00:00:19] In trying times, we have an opportunity to flex our faith and lean into His supernatural
[00:00:24] power.
[00:00:25] God will provide.
[00:00:26] We just need to trust Him.
[00:00:29] 2 Kings 4 tells us about a widow who was all out of options.
[00:00:34] The woman's deceased husband had left behind a debt and his creditor was on the way to
[00:00:38] collect.
[00:00:39] She was facing shame and degradation and a loss of her sons, and then she remembered
[00:00:45] the promises of God.
[00:00:47] The widow's husband had been faithful to God and as head of the household he had
[00:00:51] led his family to trust and obey the Lord.
[00:00:54] This poor woman knew God had promised to care for the righteous and provide for their
[00:00:58] needs, so when she approached Elisha seeking God's help, she knew her situation mattered
[00:01:04] to God.
[00:01:05] She placed her faith not in her good works or in the faithfulness of her husband, but
[00:01:10] squarely in the God who keeps His promises.
[00:01:14] She also displayed confidence in God's provision.
[00:01:17] When Elisha asked her what she had in her house as a starting point, she replied,
[00:01:23] Your servant has nothing here at all.
[00:01:26] Still then she thought for a moment, remembered she did have something.
[00:01:31] A small jar of olive oil.
[00:01:34] The little bit of oil at the bottom of the tiny jar really was nothing comparison to
[00:01:39] the size of her debt, yet she offered it to the Lord knowing that in His hands
[00:01:44] it could be enough.
[00:01:46] Finally, this widow maximized her capacity for blessing.
[00:01:50] Elisha told her to borrow jars and containers from her neighbors, and not just
[00:01:53] a few.
[00:01:54] So she asked for as many as her neighbors can spare, and God blessed her
[00:01:59] accordingly.
[00:02:00] The oil in that small jar of hers filled all the containers, stopping only
[00:02:05] when the last was topped off.
[00:02:08] She prepared for a large blessing, and that's exactly what she received.
[00:02:13] As the world around you grows dark, God is still faithful.
[00:02:17] Now is the time to expand your capacity to receive.
[00:02:20] Don't be content with just a few jars.
[00:02:23] Expect great things from the Lord.
[00:02:25] He's your loving Father, who is supernaturally at work in your life for
[00:02:29] your good and for the blessing of those around you.
[00:02:33] Let's pray together.
[00:02:35] Lord, You are so faithful.
[00:02:38] Your blessings are overwhelming.
[00:02:40] You fill our cup to overflowing.
[00:02:44] Help us to see how You are at work in our lives.
[00:02:47] May we have eyes to see Your goodness and confidence that You're able
[00:02:51] and willing to bless us as Your children.
[00:02:55] We pray this in the name of Jesus.
[00:02:57] Amen.
