With gratitude to Jonathan Cahn
Today, we delve into a beautiful biblical revelation rooted in love and relationship with God — the Hebrew phrase Dodi Li. This phrase holds the key to understanding our divine intimacy and fulfillment in Christ.
A Moment in the Vineyard
The teacher led me into a lush vineyard, where we found a quiet spot on a large rock to rest. In that peaceful setting, he shared a profound truth about the Song of Solomon — a poetic expression of love between the bride and the bridegroom.
Remember Ani Lo?
He asked me.
“Do you remember what it means?”
“Ani Lo” — translated as “I am his” or “I am to him” — is the foundation of everything we are called to be and do in God. It speaks of our consecration, our sacrifices, our ministry, and our calling. It’s about our identity in Christ: belonging to Him.
But there’s more.
Before the bride can say Ani Lo — I am his — she must declare: Dodi Li.
What does Dodi Li mean?
It means “My beloved is mine.”
“Dodi Li, VA, Ani Lo” — My beloved is mine, and I am his.
This phrase sums up the heart of true relationship with God. It’s the secret to fulfilling everything God desires for us. When the bride recognizes that her beloved belongs to her, her love grows deeper. She begins to give herself more completely, receiving his love and returning love in return.
The Power of Dodi Li
The more her heart comprehends, Dodi Li—My beloved is mine—the more her life becomes Ani Lo — I am his. Their love relationship is rooted in mutual possession, trust, and devotion.
So, what does this mean for us?
All that we are to be and do in God begins with Dodi Li — My beloved is mine. When we truly believe and accept that God belongs to us, our love for Him naturally flows. The more we receive His love, the more we give love back.
And this isn’t about striving or struggling to live righteously; it’s about love flowing freely from our hearts. When love is the foundation, righteousness and holiness become natural expressions of our relationship with Him.
The Heart of the Matter
It’s as simple as this:
Dodi Li — My beloved is mine — produces Ani Lo — I am His.
Make it your goal today to fill your heart with the knowledge of Dodi Li. Live as if God truly belongs to you—and you belong to Him. Receive His love as your gift, and let your life be His gift in return.
A Personal Challenge:
Make today a Dodi Li day. Rest in the truth that My beloved is mine, and let that truth transform your walk with God. As you do, your life will naturally overflow with love, righteousness, and joy—because love, rooted in relationship, is the heartbeat of true holiness.

A Prayer of Abandonment and Love:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your unwavering love and the covenant You have made with us through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Today, we choose to rest in the truth of Dodi Li — that You are ours and we are Yours.
Help us to understand deeply that we belong to You, and that Your love is the foundation of everything we do. Fill our hearts with the knowledge of this love, and may it overflow in our daily lives.
Teach us to live freely in Your love, to give ourselves fully to You, and to receive all that You offer.
May our lives reflect this love, and may we always remember that we are loved beyond measure.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
