The Law of Change
Inspiration from The Book of Mysteries by Jonathan Cahn
The teacher was standing to the side of a large circular stone, an upright wheel of sorts.
"What is it?" I asked.
"A stone in the form of a wheel," he replied. (An ancient seal or tombstone that could be moved to open or close a tomb.)
He challenged me, "Try moving it."
So I did, but the stone didn't budge.
"Try harder," he said.
I pushed again, still no movement.
"Just a little more," he encouraged.
Finally, with all my strength, the stone began to roll just a little.
"What did that show you?" he asked.
"That I'm out of shape," I responded.
He explained, "You were trying to move an object at rest. It required a new action—a new momentum."
He continued, "In physics, the universe resists new motion and change. To start something moving, you must concentrate all your energy into just a small initial push—this is the law of new momentum."
"So that's how to get the ball rolling?"
"Yes, but how does this apply to you?" he asked. "The same law applies in the spiritual realm."
He explained further: "God calls us to change. Change involves new action, new motion, and new momentum. Because the universe resists change, you must focus your decision, thought, and resolve into the smallest of motions—a small first step. The larger the change, the more concentrated your effort must be."
"That’s why," he said, "when dealing with change, it’s wise to take one small step, but put everything into it, trusting God to carry the momentum."
He pointed to biblical examples:
Moses at the burning bush,* where his first act was to take off his sandals—(Exodus 3:5)* —the smallest of motions that changed the world.
The disciples dropping their fishing nets,* the first step in following Jesus—(Mark 1:17-20)* —a small act that launched a worldwide movement.
The man told to take up his mat and walk,* by Jesus—(Mark 2:11-12)* —a simple act of faith that brought about a miracle.
"Apply the law of change and the power of God to that first step," he said, "and you set the divine gears in motion. You might even change the world."
The mission:
What is the change God is calling you to? Focus your energy on that first step and apply the law of new momentum.
Spiritual Gear Shifting and the Secret of True Change
The law of change.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your Word that reveals the secrets of change and transformation. I acknowledge that in my own strength, I am often limited, and my efforts can feel small and insignificant. But I believe that with You, all things are possible.
Today, I choose to focus my faith on the first step You are calling me to take. I ask for Your wisdom to see clearly what that step is, and Your strength to move forward with courage and conviction. Help me to concentrate my energy and resolve into this small act of obedience, knowing that it is the seed of divine momentum.
Lord, I surrender my fears, doubts, and hesitation. I trust that as I step out in faith, You will empower and propel me by Your Spirit. I pray for the grace to remain focused, steadfast, and patient as You work Your perfect will in my life.
Thank You for the promise that You will bring about the change I need, not just for my sake but for Your glory. I believe that with each small step, I am aligning myself with Your divine purpose, and I am moving closer to the destiny You have prepared for me.
I declare that I will not be overwhelmed by the journey's magnitude but will lean on Your strength, knowing that You are with me every step of the way.
In Jesus’ name, I pray,
Amen.
